Give BN mandate? Why?

vox populi big thumbnail Give a mandate to BN for what? What kind of slavery is this by Malaysians to BN? First of all, the people should vote for a neutral EC.

On Polling on March 8

Nithiyaavaani: So this is what we call as democracy in Malaysia? Only 13 days for the campaigning period? How about BN's dirty tactics before this campaigning period? Who will be questioning them? BN already started campaigning over RTM in Radio through ‘Sejenak Bersama Pak Lah’. What is the EC doing? Being dumb and following orders from BN?

First of all, before a general election, the people should vote for a neutral EC.

Pak Lah wants Malaysians to give a mandate to his coalition BN. For what? To increase the petrol price again? To increase the toll? To build mega-projects which will only benefit the cronies? To use ISA on people who question their credibility? What kind of slavery is this by Malaysians to BN?

It’s the time to vote for the right person now. Don't lose your voting right by choosing beasts like BN's. Use your vote wisely.

Imogen Turner: Well, the general elections are upon us again. Like all previous editions of the GE, we will soon be hearing individuals and even whole divisions of party members making cross overs from one party to another.

Such an attitude clearly demonstrates the lack of political maturity among Malaysian politicians who wait for a GE to be called before jumping over to a new party. We don't need such dishonest people in our democracy.

Any party that upholds democracy must reject anyone who decides to cross over to another party at this juncture. Any party that accepts such 'frogmen' into their party must be rejected by the rakyat.

On Abdullah: Give BN a new mandate

No Bull: Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said: ‘BN would ensure only able candidates who can serve the people with honesty, integrity and efficiency are fielded in the coming general election’. This is all bull. His candidates will include corrupted and hopeless overstaying dictators and racists who continue to threaten other races, and even gangsters and murderers.

On Hindraf's rose campaign to proceed tomorrow

Dr V Nedunchelian: ‘Why should I attend?’ What a question from the CEO of Malaysia.

You are the PM. We elect you to represent us. You are our servant. Whenever we call you, you should come because we are your boss and we pay your salary, Mr. PM.

It is really rude for you to say , ‘Shy should I attend any Hindraf gathering ?’ This simply shows your Third World mentality. Perhaps, you are suffering from amnesia and forgot you are the PM in a democratic country called Malaysia. Wake up Mr PM!

Bunga Raya Malaysia: Just like an en employee cannot refuse when his/her boss calls for a meeting, then the same logic applies to the prime minister when the rakyat wants to have a meeting with him.

For the Hindraf peaceful walk of roses to meet him tomorrow, it is indeed shocking to hear that he replied, ‘What for? Why should I attend any Hindraf event?’ Isn’t this akin to harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi ?

Mr. Prime Minister, in case you have forgotten. We, the rakyat, elected (and paid) you to run this country for us. And therefore, you are answerable to us. Please read this with care. The more you meet the rakyat to look into their needs, the more you will be loved and accepted. It is that simple. At present, we are considering firing you. Please give us a show cause letter why you need not be fired.

On Leadership crisis in Hindraf

Barathi Tamil: This is BN election trick to confuse Indians on Hindraf. We still stick with Wathya’s movement. We understand he’s the person we suppose to listen to. Anyway, Hindraf is not a political group. There’s no leader per se. The BN government is trying to confuse people. Even Samy Vellu told the people that Hindraf is dead but the Makkal Sakthi ‘People Power’ is not dead.

All this alleged mess is because of Samy Vellu. He’s losing Indian support everywhere he goes. The MIC candidates are facing problems in their campaign..Samy Vellu’s value has dropped. It’ll be a good time for him to withdraw from politics.

Nara Ganesan: The purported statement issued by the Hindraf 5 leaders yesterday is not true. Uthayakumar's signature is forged. This is what is happening - this is what the enemies of Hindraf want the public to believe. The timing of the release of this false statement speaks volumes.

Uthayakumar has shown he is not afraid to confront injustice. A man of such deep sensitivity cannot be maligned in this heinous way. The owners of this invisible hand, whoever they truly are, have not at all grasped how we see Uthaykumar and Hindraf. These petty attempts only make us more determined.

On Fong to be squeezed out of Batu Gajah?

Unhappy Malaysian: I strongly believed this rumor was created by MCA to destabilise the opposition, especially the DAP. The same has happened in Penang - the outburst by Tham Weng Fatt was given prominent coverage by the mainstream media. I would urge the opposition parties to be mindful of such tactics deployed by the BN. After 50 years, I think the people must be prepared to take one courageous small step to make their voice heard and to protect the future of our children.

On Year of the Rat - let's rat-tle BN

PT Tan: Recently, the DPM asked the Chinese to vote BN for more benefits. At first I was inclined to think along the same lines for after all, they have dangle so many puny millions for Chinese schools and aid. On second thoughts, though, I puked.

Why would the nation’s benefits be accrued to one particular race at all? Is it a game of threaten first and reward later? Shame on the ruling coalition. Would this mean that the Indians and Malays will now get less?

More troubling was that despite having voted for BN over the last 50 years, the Chinese community has seen multiple obstacles placed in their path and their benefits and rights disappeared altogether. All done by the very same BN government.

I wish I could say, ‘Why don’t you just return everything that you have taken away in the first place, then start to talk’.

As it is, I don’t see the logic in this kind of hogwash. I hope all Malaysians can wake up and see through the smog in the coming few weeks.

On Penang MIC chief lets go state seat

Krishnan: This 12th general election will be the most challenging election for the MIC in general. Complacency and lack of action over the years have made the Indian community a ‘frustrated’ community. Failure to fight for rights and the failure to solve problems have been the norm over the years. While the common Indian suffered over the years, their political representatives were busy ‘developing’ themselves.

Samy Vellu may claim he has done a lot to the community, but at the same time he has also failed in many areas. He says he meets nearly 500 Indians every Tuesday with all kinds of problems. The question is what are the other eight MPs and the state assemblymen doing?

In Perak, the entire MIC machinery needs to be changed. The current MIC state chairman, G Rajoo, is a failure. He can hardly converse in proper Bahasa Malaysian and English. He had failed to uplift the standard on Indians in the state. Another MIC rep, R Ganesan (Sungkai) is also a failure. He is always ‘missing’ from the scene. Overall, the two state assemblymen in Perak must be dropped.

On New Rudd gov't challenges in 2008

Dennis Madden: Definition of ‘light year’? The difference between Kevin Rudd's vision for Australia and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's vision for Malaysia. And yet its only 107 years since Australia was a British colony

On Law allows useless fathers to get away

Ratormo: Why can't Sad Angry Mother pay for her daughter's education? If she was not capable of maintaining her daughters, she should not have use the courts to grab her daughters from her husband. The husband has been faithfully and dutifully paying the alimony for 18 years. How much longer must her husband 'suffer' financially and mentally for the 'mistake' he made 18 years ago? Come on Sad Angry Mother, grow up!

Muhammad Ahnaf: I'd like to thank Ratormo ( above ) for calling children from broken homes like myself a ‘mistake’ and also for betraying a complete inability to understand that this has nothing to do with the parents - it is only to do with the child's interest.

I am 19. I live with my mother. She divorced my father 17 years ago. There was no ‘grabbing’. The court awarded me to my mother as is usually done, in the interests of the child.

Secondly, supporting a child's education is not a punishment, it is an obligation. You bring a child into the world, you are responsible for his or her education. It doesn't matter whether that child lives with you or not. If Sad Angry Mother were still with her husband, wouldn't he support his daughters' university education?

Does Ratormo believe that divorcing a wife also means divorcing the children? And nowhere in the letter did Sad Angry Mother mention alimony; it is Ratormo who picked that word out of thin air when what is being talked about is child support payments solely in the interests of the child.

I hope Ratormo was talking theoretically and not demonstrating his or her treatment towards 'ex-children'.

On PSM flags taken down in Semenyih

Hamisu: It's funny to read this statement: ‘However, a MPKJ official denied that the council was acting on behalf of the ruling party. He explained that political parties are not permitted to fly their flags publicly until nomination day’.Get real!

I hope this MPKJ official knows what he is talking about. I have in my possession photos of BN flags fying from about two weeks ago! Talking about nomination day, isn't that supposed to be Feb 24? So, why am I seeing BN flags flying all over from KL to Kedah?

I advise this official to take a drive with me. I shall show this official where these BN flags are flying illegally. I'd be more than glad to take some time off to point out the ‘irregularities’ to him. And by the way, once I point them out, will there be any action taken?

On Anwar says early election 'shameful'

PTT Sin: Anwar shouldn't cry like a baby. Why in the world should everybody favour him by setting dates to meet his expectation? He had made a mistake and now has to pay for it.
