• National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) chairperson Hans Isaac said creative freedom must be exercised responsibly, with filmmakers mindful of Malaysia’s multiracial and multicultural society.

  He said producers have the right to explore controversial subjects but should consider their content's potential impact on relations between different communities.

  Bernama reported Hans as saying that Malaysians live in harmony and this should not be disrupted by content that could undermine relations among communities.

  His remarks followed controversy surrounding the Malay-language drama “Madu Atau Racun”, following clips allegedly depicting same-sex relationships that went viral on social media.

  

  iQIYI and MIG Production, the drama’s producer, have also reportedly agreed to remove the six released episodes temporarily and edit and reassess all 12 episodes before considering re-release.
