MCA Petaling Jaya Utara division advisor Wong Leong who had revealed the existence of an alleged 'snoop squad' is expected to reveal the 'truth and details' about the matter today.

mca investigate on character assasin 160408 wong leong going up 02 Last week, Wong was slapped with another notice to appear before the three-man committee at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

"I will expose the whole truth and all related details on the existence of the party’s snoop squad on Monday," Wong told a press conference in Petaling Jaya on Saturday.

He is expected to make the full disclosure after his session with the independent three-man inquiry committee chaired by party veteran Sak Cheng Lum. The other two members are lawyer Roger Tan and party veteran Michael Chen.

Following his walk-out from the panel’s first meeting, Wong had publicly raised questions on the appointments contrary to the earlier announcement by party president Ong Ka Ting that the panel would comprise party veterans.

"Michael Chen was one of several names of veterans I had counter-proposed. When the replacement was made, I was not formally informed and I believe the MCA headquarters should be more transparent in their procedures," Wong said.

On April 22, party veteran Michael Chen replaced lawyer Teh Hock Kee who had turned down the appointment.

The allegation that certain party leaders had formed a ‘snoop squad’ to expose the private lives of political rivals was first made public by Wong in March during the inaugural launching of the ‘Save MCA Campaign’ nationwide roadshow in Perak.

Bring a lawyer

At Saturday’s press conference, Wong said he was advised (in the notice from the party headquarters) to bring along his lawyer.

The advice for Wong to be legally represented drew flak from the Selangor ‘Save MCA Campaign’ committee members.

"Wong should be treated as a witness and not like a criminal," Theng Book, head of the legal advisors of the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department, told reporters.

"The snoop squad is a political issue and not a legal one. Whether the current top leadership is acting correctly (in response to the allegation), we will let the party and public judge them," he added.

Former Damansara Utama state assemblyperson Lim Choon Kim also urged the party leadership to conduct a proper investigation into the snoop squad allegation and should not treat Wong like a criminal.

Wong also earlier disclosed that he heard gossips that some "special emissaries" were sent by certain top leaders in an attempt to persuade him from discontinuing the allegation on the issue.

Party president Ong Ka Ting in an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini in April had denied that he was involved in the alleged snoop squad.

"This is utter rubbish. This is something unthinkable for a person like me to go and do all these things. I, myself cannot believe it," he had said.

But Theng Book and their supporters remain adamant that Wong Leong has ample proof and evidence, including on those involved and the activities conducted by the alleged snoop squad.
