The Kelantan People's Action Council (MTRK) is worried over the effects of the 'Social Contract Forum' that will be held by the Bar Council in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

MTRK president Ibrahim Ali said the forum should not be held as it could offend the sensitivities of some races in the country.

The Bar Council is scheduled to hold the forum tomorrow at 9am with panellists being Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia political science lecturer Dr Mavis Puthucheary, Suaram director Dr Kua Kia Soong and lawyer Tommy Thomas.

Ibrahim said that the forum could touch on Malay supremacy and other issues related to Article 153 of the Federal Constitution, the New Economic Policy and the New Economic Agenda will also be discussed.

Article 153 is about the special rights of Malays.

'Come, participate and engage'

Ibrahim, also the Pasir Mas member of parliament, said the forum could be a platform for sedition, which the government could act on under the Sedition Act.

Yesterday, while announcing the details of the forum, council secretary Lim Chee Wee said the forum was aimed at providing a platform for people to debate on the issue of social contract.

"This is an important issue. It affects the fundamental rights of various stakeholders in the country," he had said.

And when was asked as to how the council would react if someone was to object the topic, Lim said: "We welcome them. Come, participate and engage".

About 200 people are expected to attend the forum, including some from PKR.
