PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim was today sternly reminded by Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak not to "pawn" the dignity and principle of the Malays to achieve his dream of becoming prime minister.

Najib said that Anwar should not politicise the future of the race, religion and nation just because he wanted to achieve his dream of becoming a leader.

According to a Bernama report, Najib said those who like to politicise the dignity of the race, religion and nation should be rejected as a leader.

He urged the Permatang Pauh electorate to give priority to political stability, economic growth and development as the basis when casting their vote at the by-election.

Anwar is the favourite to win the by-election, to be held on Aug 26. He faces BN's Arif Shah Omar Shah and Hanafi Mamat of Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (Akim).

Najib is heading the BN's campaign in Permatang Pauh. BN's campaign has been focused on the sodomy allegations made against Anwar by his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

And at another function, also at Bukit Mertajam, Najib continued his attacks on Anwar

Najib said that Anwar should be responding to several allegations made by his former allies Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor and KS Nallakaruppan.

Speaking at a MCA function, NAjib said that former PKR Youth chief Ezam had gone to jail for standing up for Anwar and was now exposing Anwar's true colours.

"But today Nallakaruppan himself has revealed that Anwar had received RM60 million from Magnum corporation, of which he (Nallakaruppan) was a director.

"Thirdly, Anwar must also answer to the swearing done by his former aide Saiful that he (Anwar) had sodomised him (Saiful) and not twist around a medical report from the Pusrawi hospital," he said, according to a Bernama report.
