Embattled Selangor executive councillor Elizabeth Wong, who has offered to resign over the circulation in public of her nude photos, will not attend the current session of the state assembly.

According to assembly speaker Teng Chang Khim, the Bukit Lanjan state assemblyperson had applied for leave.

He said this when asked to comment on the absence of the state executive councillor for tourism, consumer affairs and the environment from the opening of the state assembly sitting today.

"As such she has not breached any rules... regulations of the state constitution as when she had applied for leave and the leave is approved by the speaker she is not deemed being absent for more than six months," he was quoted as saying by Bernama .

The state government had also extended the leave given to Wong who had offered to resign as executive councillor and assemblyperson until police investigations were completed into the airing of her nude photographs last month.

Khalid to meet Wong on March 15

Wong, 37, sent her letter of resignation to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim on Feb 17.

In the 2008 general elections Wong, who is also Wanita PKR information chief defeated BN candidate Yong Dai Ying with a majority of 5,155 votes.

Previously, Khalid said he would be discuss with Wong over her political future on March 15. Wong is currently on long leave in the wake of the controversy.

However, he declined to elaborate whether Wong would remain firm on her offer to quit the state government or stay on.
