Push for Malacca CM debate
Pakatan Harapan is pushing for a televised debate among the chief minister candidates of the three coalitions contesting the Malacca polls.
This is to take advantage of a proposal by the government to allow all parties contesting in the polls equal airtime on public airwaves in light of SOPs that have hindered campaigning.
However, a three-cornered chief minister debate may run into at least one obstacle.
While Harapan and BN each have a chief minister candidate (Adly Zahari-Harapan, Sulaiman Md Ali-BN), Perikatan Nasional hasn't announced one yet.
PN says it is keeping it under wraps until after the coalition "wins" the state election, but Malacca Bersatu chief Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen and Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin are believed to be the contenders.

5G rollout hits speed bumps
If you're looking forward to using super fast 5G internet next month to stream 8K resolution videos effortlessly - or even 16 1080p videos simultaneously if that's what you're in for this - then you may have to wait a bit longer.
The government's plan to rollout 5G via Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) - a GLC network wholesaler - has hit a speed bump.
None of the country's major telcos has agreed to use the government's 5G network over transparency and pricing issues.
Opposition lawmakers have called on the government to review its 5G plans.
DNB,, however, says talks with telcos are still ongoing and that there have been no sign-ups as the reference access offer (RAO) has yet to be published.

Clarity sought on period spot check ban
The Education Ministry has issued a circular banning the controversial practice of physical period spot checks in schools.
While lauded, questions have been raised as to what steps the government would take if this ban is not adhered to.
The All Women’s Action Society (Awam) is among those that want the Education Ministry to spell out clearly what sort of "serious action" it would take if the ban is defied.
The group also wants more clarity on reporting mechanisms for those who had been subjected to period spot checks, and what channels of redress are available for victims.
