End of SST exemption
The Sales and Services Tax (SST) exemption for the purchase of vehicles will finally come to an end after June 30.
The exemption was introduced in June 2020 to boost vehicle sales amid the Covid-19 pandemic but the government said it now needs to increase revenue.
However, those who book their new vehicle by June 30 will still be able to enjoy the exemption if they register it by March 31 next year.

Ledger fallout continues
The fallout from a ledger allegedly detailing kickbacks to various politicians continued.
Former minister Anifah Aman, who was among those named, said he was ”shocked” and did not recall receiving the funds.
Meanwhile, former Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the party had never seen the RM1.3 million purportedly received by Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Umno leaders continued to put pressure, questioning why Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also allegedly received money, was charged but not other politicians.

Another Bersatu exit
Another MP who defected from PKR to Bersatu is set to quit the party again.
Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin confirmed he applied to join the Sarawak-based PBB, stating that he was only "technically parked" under Bersatu after leaving PKR.
He follows in the footsteps of Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin who went from PKR to Bersatu and then to Parti Bangsa Malaysia.
Gombak MP Azmin Ali, who previously also defected from PKR to Bersatu, was also reportedly in talks with his former party.
However, Azmin was evasive about the meeting, stating that he couldn't remember who he met.
