Govt turning blind eye to MACC graft allegations?
The government has set up a three-member committee to investigate MACC chief Azam Baki’s shareholding scandal.
However, the committee - which is headed by Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar - will not be investigating allegations that the MACC, enabled by Azam, colluded with private individuals to shake down business rivals.
Calls for the probe to be expanded have been supported by politicians and activists from across the political spectrum, making it one of the rare issues that unites the nation.
Meanwhile, police are investigating Bloomberg for allegedly defaming Azam with its shareholdings exposé, a move that lawyer Latheefa Koya said was reminiscent of how the Najib Abdul Razak administration dealt with the 1MDB scandal.

Hamzah purged, hits reset
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has purged the party of rivals, including his deputy Hamzah Zainudin.
Hamzah, up until being sacked, had publicly portrayed himself as a Muhyiddin loyalist, but now says he is the Bersatu president’s number one enemy.
And he isn’t alone. Hamzah and his allies, who include 16 other Bersatu MPs, are planning on a “political reset”.
What exactly this entails is unclear, with Hamzah continuing to say his options include joining PAS or taking over the former PAS splinter party Berjasa.
