If you’ve ever wondered what PERKESO actually covers, here’s something new to know: as of Aug 22, 2025, every PERKESO protection scheme now shares a single name – LINDUNG.
It’s a fresh identity with a simple message: no matter who you are or how you earn a living, there’s a LINDUNG made for you.
Not just another branding exercise
The name LINDUNG isn’t just a new label. It’s part of PERKESO’s effort to modernise Malaysia’s social protection system and make it easier for people to understand what they’re entitled to.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim announced that the launch of LINDUNG will be followed by a series of reforms to strengthen efficiency, benefits, and reach. Among them:
Amendments to the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800), now being tabled in Parliament, will raise benefits and introduce new allowances for workers seeking re-employment.
LINDUNG 24/7, an initiative announced in Parliament, aims to extend protection under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) beyond regular working hours.
Both moves reflect how Malaysians work today – flexibly, digitally, and often outside the traditional nine-to-five routine.

Meet the four LINDUNG schemes
PERKESO’s protection is now easier to understand, thanks to four clear names that tell you exactly who each scheme is for, along with what they used to be called.
LINDUNG PEKERJA
Formerly the Employees’ Social Security Scheme under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4).
For employees in the private sector, it covers workplace injuries and occupational diseases, and through the proposed LINDUNG 24/7 initiative, protection will soon include incidents that happen outside working hours, too.
LINDUNG KERJAYA
Formerly the Employment Insurance System (SIP) under the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800).
For workers who’ve lost their jobs, it provides temporary income support, retraining, and job-placement help. The new amendments being tabled in Parliament will raise benefit levels and introduce additional allowances to support quicker re-employment.

LINDUNG KENDIRI
Formerly the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) under the Self-Employment Social Security Act 2017 (Act 789).
For self-employed individuals, including drivers, riders, traders, and freelancers, it offers protection for accidents that happen while earning a living – a safeguard for independent workers.
LINDUNG KASIH
Formerly the Housewives’ Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) under the Housewives’ Social Security Act 2022 (Act 838).
For homemakers and caregivers, it recognises the importance of care work by providing coverage for accidents or disabilities that occur while managing a household.
Simpler, clearer, closer
Behind the new names are real changes in how PERKESO serves the public. Through Rekayasa KESUMA, the Human Resources Ministry’s modernisation drive, PERKESO is streamlining processes, cutting bureaucracy, and digitising services to deliver support more efficiently.
The rebranding also makes communication easier. Technical acronyms like SIP, SKSPS, and SKSSR are now complemented by simple, recognisable language – Pekerja, Kerjaya, Kendiri, Kasih. It’s a small shift that helps people immediately identify where they belong and what they’re covered for.
