What about foreign children in Msian detention centres?

With regards to the case of three-year-old Naomi Leong and her mother Virginia, I must say that it is indeed pitiful for the child to have been detained her whole life.

But who is to be blamed?

Virginia was a Malaysian citizen but she obviously wanted to become a Australian. She was detained according to Australian law. In any country, if one breake the law, one has to pay the price.

Virginia, in my opinion, is the one to be blamed squarely for Naomi's subsequent ordeal. She insisted on overstaying in Australia even though she had the chance to come back to Malaysia. The Australian government is not to be blamed, they are just enforcing their country's law.

I am very sure the Malaysian government or any other country's for that matter, would do the same thing given the same situation. Would you want to send a message that whoever overstays in your country without valid permit is doing the correct thing?

So I really can't see the point of sensationalising Virginia's plight. What needs to be sensationalised are cases of foreign children in Malaysian immigration detention centres like this malaysiakini story here .

I am pretty sure that there are many foreign children in local detention centres. They too, are without freedom and need attention as well.
