I am not a DAP member. Like any discerning rakyat, I don't always agree with the opposition party's stand on all issues.
However, KTMC's letter headlined DAP acting more BN than BN and Justice's letter titled DAP youth elections: All not right, are really dubious .
I strongly feel that KTMC is extremely misguided in claiming that Dapsy national secretary Loke Siew Fook was influenced by 'the intolerant and contemptuous attitude of the Barisan Nasional old guard' towards free and independent media.
Firstly, KTMC simply cannot compare the DAP with the BN. It is unfair because it is not an orange to orange comparison. While the BN, as the government, can apply real pressure against the media, the DAP can only voice its dissatisfaction against publications which are perceived as unfair to the opposition party.
There is nothing much else it can do. So, KTMC, where's the beef here?
Secondly, Loke has every right to express his concern and criticise malaysiakini's editorial policy on letters that it publishes. After all, such letters can potentially tarnish the image of his organisation.
Thirdly, the main question here is not whether DAP 'is more BN than BN'. The more relevant question is whether Justice's letter is genuine or a hoax.
As correctly pointed out by Loke, Justice did not provide solid proof to justify the claim that he or she was thrown out as a delegate while others, who did not attend party meetings, were co-opted.
It is okay for Justice to remain anonymous but the least he or she can do is to provide specific details to back up his or her claim. If not, we will not know if it is just another wild allegation.
Justice should have nothing to fear in revealing his or her identity. Any backlash against this person for speaking out against alleged improprieties in the party will only tarnish DAP's image further.
As for malaysiakini , the question it should ask itself is how to determine the veracity of its 'Letters to the Editor'. It is fair to allow differing opinions to thrive but allowing unsubstantiated claims to be published will only undermine your credibility in the long run.
