MIC Youth today submitted a memorandum to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng offering to pay the state government RM3.21 million to buy Kampung Buah Pala for the residents.

NONE The memorandum was submitted by MIC Youth wing's national coordinator T Mohan, accompanied by some 50 MIC supporters.

Also present was the youth wing's advisor and party president S Samy Vellu's son Vellpaari.

The memorandum was handed over to the chief minister's political secretary Ng Wei Aik.

The memorandum handing process was filled with dramatic events from the very beginning.

First Mohan and several others were arrested for marching from a nearby temple to the state secretariat at Komtar at about 10.30am. They were held by the police for questioning until about 5pm.

Immediately after being released by the police, the MIC Youth entourage proceeded to the chief minister's office to submit the memorandum.

However another drama took place at Komtar when several MIC supporters assaulted an aide of Penang Deputy Chief Minister 2 P Ramasamy.

NONE The aide, Satish Muniandy ( photo:seated ), was manhandled by some unidentified MIC supporters after he had allegedly provoked them.

Satish however managed to escape from his pursuers.

Take the deal seriously

Meanwhile Mohan told journalists that MIC had offered to buy the land on which the village is located so that the land could be given back to the villagers.

The village is facing an eviction order for vacant possession effective Aug 2.

He said he expected the state government to follow up with MIC's offer to buy the land seriously and arrange a meeting with the party representatives to finalise the deal.

"Since the state government claims that it lacked funds, MIC is offering the money to buy back the land," he said.
