Kampar tragedy: 'Find out who built bridge'

your say 'We must identify who designed and supervised the construction of the bridge. If the failure is not to be found there, then it becomes an issue of failing to manage the bridge's usage. Whatever it is, the truth must be revealed .'

Weak foundation caused bridge collapse

Tan Teng Wah: Are we still living in the primitive age when we were erecting structures by trial and error? We take so much pride in building the Twin Towers. Isn't it hopelessly ludicrous that a miniature bridge, similar to the Penang bridge, could collapse that easily as if straws and carton boxes were used in its construction?

A post-mortem of the tragedy after precious lives were lost means nothing. It will happen again at another venue and at some other time if the root causes - corruption, non-accountability and the lack of transparency - are not seriously looked into.

Be Truthful: We must identify who designed and supervised the construction of the bridge. If the failure is not to be found there, then it becomes an issue of failing to manage the bridge's usage.

Whatever it is, the truth must be revealed. Whether it's Pakatan Rakyat's investigation or BN's, the above points must be revealed. Otherwise, it is just a waste of time.

Lvbala: How can you build a strong bridge when some of the allocation funds have been allocated into some people's pockets? At the same time, the teachers should have been more responsible in taking care of the kids.

They are not there for a holiday or picnic. They are there to take care of the children. The report on the incident which said no teacher led the children when they crossed the river that night was really disappointing. It reflects badly on the efficiency of the teachers and their lack of responsibility.

Dan: It really must be painful to lose a child. I have three and to think I will lose one will all but kill me. I believe in fate, and more importantly in God. Now these poor parents have to deal with PKR and their need to politicise the matter like the Teoh Beng Hock case - making it impossible for the parents to heal.

These people continue to play political games with the people of Perak even using deaths. Serving their constituencies would have beeen better and if they had done so, who knows... this could have been avoided.

Thomas Foo: What political mileage are some talking about? Whose political survival are some talking about? We are talking about children's lives that were lost due to BN/Umno's mismanagement. Would they speak in this manner if it was their own children? Utterly shameful.

Selsub: Why are we blaming Pakatan Rakyat for the investigation? We should first and foremost point the finger at those people responsible for the ‘1Malaysia policy'. Young children were killed due to the negligence of some greedy politicians in BN.

How can this could happen in the first place? Schoolchildren are dragged to political gatherings and other events. We have to ensure that this will never happen again

Concern Citizen: I thank you, Pakatan, for the investigation and the lawsuit. I have two kids in school and one more going soon. I have already decided in my mind that I'm not going to send my kids to any school's outside (extracurricular) events and I'm campaigning for others to do the same thing.

This is to safeguard my kids from BN/Umno's political games. Who cares about ‘1Malaysia' when the slogan applies to a Malaysia with two systems of administration depending on your race.

Anak Ku: Another needless sacrifice of lives due to this country's failed system of government. The government just does not want to admit that the current issue we have with the different races is due to the country's policies of racial segregation - bumi and non-bumi.

On one hand, they talk about ‘1Malaysia' and that all are equal. On the other, they preach about bumi rights and that it should not be challenged. Then they come out with this programme and cause families to lose their children. Please do not start all this ‘wayang' and allow more innocent lives to be lost.

Malay: This is why we must vote for Pakatan. BN individuals talk so much, including Muhyiddin Yassin. But he is not aware of many things. Where is your investigation, BN? What are you people doing? You all cannot do anything. Just keep quiet. Give the job to Pakatan.
