'BN will win elections if held today'

Ruben Antony Soosay: It is very easy to validate the Merdeka Centre survey. Mr Popular and Dynamic Prime Minister, please dissolve the Perak state assembly and hold fresh elections. It will be a perfect chance to evaluate your so-called ‘excellent, visionary leadership'.

Murali: After the non-stop shootings of the Indians, BN can dream on! I'm not going to vote for them.

Amos: BN and Umno are chronic racists. Malaysia is the only country in the world that still practises apartheid. It is a very corrupted banana republic. This is after 50 years of racist Umno rule. Enough is enough.

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: Underestimate not the assessment of the Merdeka Centre. I may be dead against Umno and BN but what they say is logical and realistic. Be whatever our sentiments, let's forget not the priority of the average Malaysian.

As disheartening as it may be, the rakyat easily forgive in exchange for promises of wealth and prosperity. At the end of the day, the people will vote for the government they think will benefit their lifestyle the best.

Pakatan Rakyat has not been doing too well in that area and highlighting BN's shortcomings alone is insufficient. Pakatan should take heed of this assessment and reform quickly lest the prediction, albeit horrid, come true.

Ken Kanna: Hold the general election tomorrow or three years from now, but never in my life will I vote for BN. Never ever. They can give me or my family 'instant maggie mee' or try to buy me with billions of ringgit but I'm a 35-year-old married man who believes in certain principles.

I will never in my life vote for BN. I've cemented my thoughts a long time ago. Nothing can change that. Enough is sooooooooooo enough with BN.

Husband arrested over wife's suicide attempt

Stories: I thought someone who is seriously ill like R Seetha shouldn't be signing anything. Next thing we know, people will be losing their estates in hospitals if this is allowed.

Rocky: Please stop harassing this family. They have enough sorrow to deal with. What are the cops going to do? Make her husband confess? Confess that he fed them the paraquat?

This family has had enough. I hope they will be given good care at the hospital and then given a new start in life.

Needjust: Seetha was seriously ill, so could she read what was written in the declaration that the police made her sign? I doubt it. Now the police will use this statement to charge her husband, M Manimaran and put all blame on him.

This is both to divert the public's attention and clear the police's name. Let's not forget this whole thing started because of the police shootout.

Catholic paper in 'Allah' row gets new permit

1 Sam: If the Home Ministry refuses the ‘Herald's application to publish in the Kadazandusun language, where is the freedom of worship and the freedom of expression that is guaranteed under the constitution?

X'roy: The Kadazandusun language is the language of the Kadazan people of Sabah and these people are a Christian majority race in Sabah.

The refusal of the Home Ministry to allow the publication of the ‘Herald' in their language is in direct conflict with their rights to religious freedom as guaranteed in the in the Malaysian constitution and an act of reneging on what was guaranteed by the Reid Commission to the peoples of East Malaysia.

They at first rejected the federation on the basis that Islam was to be the official religion as they were asking for a totally secular state. The guarantee by Wong Pow Nee and Ghazali Shafee that Islam will only be the official religion and Malaysia would for all intents and purposes be a secular nation, today it is being denied. Where is the integrity of this BN government?

Wira: First they forbade you to call your God the way you and the rest of civilisation have been calling Him since time immemorial. Then they threatened your printing permit and finally took it away.

Next they tell you that the withdrawal of the printing permit is a ‘mis-communication'. Are you now be expected to thank them?

'Grassroots dialogue shows disrespect to EGM decisions'

Cala: To me, Liow Tiong Lai and his Third Force are the shining stars for Malaysians. They are, to be precise, the conscience of MCA. Many are looking to them as the last defenders of true democracy within the party. For they are the rare breed who dare to stand up to the tyranny of Ong Tee Kiat. They are indeed synonymous with honour, a rare commodity in the field of politics.

On the other hand, Ong, the same man who talks about party unity and party stability, ‘beheaded' four central committee members on the eve of Oct 15 CC meeting. Do you think this will earn Ong the trust of the party members yet again? You must be joking.
