The second post-mortem on the remains of DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock ended at about 3.30pm, some two hours after it commenced at the Sungai Buloh hospital.
Teoh's parents and two siblings appeared upbeat when they approached members of the press, who had been restricted from going near the forensics department.
His sister Lee Lan said the autopsy was "successful" and the family has been briefed by Thai pathologist Dr Porntip Rojanasunand.
However, she declined to reveal details such as whether any new evidence had been uncovered to suggest the possibility of foul play.
"Wait for the inquest to start on Dec 9," she said, adding that she was unsure when the post-mortem report would be released.
Teoh's brother Beng Kee said the family did not understand certain aspects of Porntip's briefing as it consisted of medical jargon.
When reporters caught up with the Thai specialist as she was leaving the hospital, she merely said: "Bye-bye. No comment."
Teoh was found dead at the fifth floor landing of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam on Aug 17, a day after he was called in for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Though the MACC had repeatedly alluded that Teoh committed suicide, his family refused
to believe this.
Following much public outcry, the government ordered an inquest into the death and Porntip’s testimony had prompted the family to seek a second post-mortem.
She had told the inquest that based on photographs and the first post-mortem report, she suspected that there was an 80 percent probability that it was homicide.
Remains will be buried tomorrow
The renowned Thai pathologist who works for the Justice Ministry had observed this afternoon's procedure on behalf of the Selangor government.
Meanwhile, the MACC had hired British pathologist Peter Venezis (

The post-mortem was carried out by resident pathologist Dr Shahidan Md Noor. Dr Khairul Aznam and Dr Prashant Samberker, who testified during the inquest that Teoh died as a result of suicide, were also present.
Another pathologist, K Saravanan from Klang’s Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, was tasked with taking photographs of the procedure.
The experts had also performed a computed axial tomography (CAT) scan and X-ray on the corpse
Teoh's remains were exhumed from a cemetery in Semenyih yesterday and his sister said that the family plans to carry out the burial tomorrow.
Speaking to reporters this morning, the family's counsel Gobind Singh Deo claimed that a group of unknown individuals had been tailing Porntip since yesterday and urged them to step forward.
"Since Friday evening, several cars have been following her - back to her hotel and then to the cemetery in Semenyih yesterday (where Teoh's body was exhumed)," he said.
He added that the police deployed several personnel since they were alerted yesterday that Porntip was being followed.
