'I don't see much change in the professionalism of civil servants. There could be some sporadic cases of courageous acts within the civil services, but these are isolated cases.'
IGP quit rumour: Cracks beginning to appear
Perakean: This is indicative of changing times, when rumours become the source of information. The situation comes about for a reason - the complete distrust of the mainstream media. The rakyat have come to consider the national dailies as nothing more than the mouthpiece of the governing party - Umno.
The police, once touted as a force to be reckoned with for its service to king and country in combatting communism, is now viewed with much disdain. It has become a convenient tool for Umno in its attempts at silencing the opposition and coercing the rakyat into obedience. Such is the making of a failed government at the brink of destruction.
Harmandar Singh: The moment someone denies a rumour, it becomes news. And research shows that 75 percent of rumours are true. And more than 80 percent of people believe rumours. Or at least perceive rumours to be true.
Multi Racial: At the moment, I don't see much change in the professionalism of civil servants. There could be some sporadic cases of courageous acts within the civil services, but these are isolated cases as people are still afraid.
We expect those in uniform or working in departments like the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Auditor-General's Office and the Attorney-General's Chambers to initiate the moves to save the country. It is important to be loyal to the country. It is also important to be loyal to the boss.
But if the boss is not loyal to the country or not doing things for the good of the country, then there is no reason for the civil servants to be loyal to these boss.
Cala: The executive and the civil service are two different sides of the same coin. Terence Netto's analysis of this polico-civil service complex is interesting, but is a little over- stretched.
I thought the key appointments in civil service, police, Attorney-General's Chambers, or even the judiciary are the 'prerogative' of the executive of the day, i.e. the Umno-led BN coalition.
In the past at least, the executive had the absolute right to do anything that pleased them. The civil services, etc, are the instruments of the executive and have to toe the line faithfully as directed. If the executive is in doubt, I suppose they would replace the civil services in the 'polico-civil service complex' and realign them so that they would move forward in unison.
I doubt the civil service would do anything untoward.
Hisham confirms Musa on way out
Sentinel: Didn't I comment earlier that the mainstream media in Malaysia is so tightly controlled that there is no reason China Press would have published the impending resignation of the inspector-general of police without basis? There is no smoke without fire.
Now the truth is out two days later. Looks like China Press has been vindicated.
Changeagent: There you have it, folks. The rumour mills were true after all, confirmed by a very prominent 'underground' figure, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.
KayKay: This government is so dumb that it belies all description. But even so they wouldn't be so dumb as to allow Musa Hassan to quit prematurely as China Press would have us believe. The rumour mills will churn even faster overtime should Musa quit under such circumstances. People might even speculate that he was either sacked or forced to quit before his current contract expires "because of his underworld contacts" as the bloggers would have us believe.
One Hand Cover the Sky: Great Pretenders, liars and scammers . These are the only words that I can describes these two clowns.
Kgen: Given the scenario, it's likely that Musa (mattress carrier) Hassan could have tendered his resignation but it was rejected. The reason is that Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy II trial (which is now being rushed) must be concluded first, or "evidence" may not be forthcoming.
China Press may not have been far off the mark. They only got his resignation acceptance wrong.
Malayamuda: China Press should send Kerismuddin a show-cause letter now!
Zahrain: Aye to 1Malaysia, nay to ISA
Parsona: We have an automatic signature-verifying machine called Zahrain Mohd Hashim! Bank Negara or even the CIA should hire him for his incredible talent to spot fake signatures of thousands of people he does not know.
Pemerhati: Zahrain is either putting up a wayang kulit (shadow play) show to create an impression that he was not paid by Umno to leave PKR or he is angry and annoyed with Umno for not paying him as much as that Jelapang state assemblyperson Hee Yit Fong in Perak.
Lucia: How did he know the 1,000 signatures are not genuine? If 10,000 signatures were given to him, he'd probably say 9,000 are not genuine.
Deep inside, he knows that if he quits, he wouldn't get re-elected, so he's giving all sorts of excuses.
The media should stop giving him coverage. When he was in PKR, he hardly did his duties. We never heard him speaking up. But now that he's left PKR, suddenly he's speaking up?
