'We leave the decision to home minister'
The fate of Suara Keadilan, the PKR newspaper, will be decided at a meeting of the Home Ministry tomorrow, Publications Control and Quranic Text Division secretary Zaitun Ab Samad said.
The fate of Suara Keadilan , the PKR newspaper, will be decided at a meeting of the Home Ministry tomorrow, Publications Control and Quranic Text Division secretary Zaitun Ab Samad said.
She said the publications permit application and printing licence committee chaired by secretary-general Mahmood Adam would study the renewal application.
Suara Keadilan 's permit application would depend on KDN's showcause letter to the newspaper over the article "Felda Is Bankrupt" and its previous record.
"We don't base our decision on just one incident (Felda issue). Renewal of the newspaper's permit is only by coincidence.
" Suara Keadilan had published many articles which grabbed KDN's attention.
"We will study its status and leave the decision to the Home Minister (Hishammuddin Hussein)," she told a press conference In Putrajaya today.
Suara Keadilan's publication permit was suspended three months at end 2008.
Zaitun said newspaper permits were categorised as daily/weekly, tabloid and political party organ.
"KDN is fair to all publications as provided by conditions and guidelines under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984.
"However, political party newspapers have an added condition where they are only to be distributed to members," she said.
Suara Keadilan , Harakah (PAS) and Rocket (DAP) are categorised as political party newspapers.
She urged the public to contact KDN should they come across political party newspapers at retail shops.
