The Selangor Pakatan Rakyat backbenchers club (PRBBC) has accused the BN of using government enforcement agencies to topple the PR-led Selangor state government.

NONE PRBBC chairperson Azmin Ali ( centre, in photo ) claimed that they have received information that the MACC's action in questioning two PR assemblypersons yesterday was "politically motivated".

"Umno is using the institutions of the MACC, police and the attorney-general's office to bring down the PR government," he said after chairing a PRBBC meeting this morning.

During the meeting, the two assemblypersons questioned by the MACC yesterday - Amirudin Shari (Batu Caves) and Shuhaimie Shafie (Sri Muda) - related to their colleagues how the commission carried out questioning in relation to the state government's sand mining debacle.

Azmin, who is also Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyperson, said another issue raised during the PRBBC meeting was the alleged power tussle between himself and Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, which he described as a tactic of Umno's propaganda machine.

He added that they also discussed PR's current position in Selangor, but declined to elaborate on both issues.

Asked about the suspension of PKR party organ Suara Keadilan , Azmin, who is also a party vice-president, said it is "another in a series of harassment moves" by the Home Ministry.

"This is a setback not only for PKR, but for all Malaysians who believe in democracy," he said in a brief reply.

Azmin said he believes there was a hidden hand guiding the group of people who protested and burned copies of Suara Keadilan in front of the publication's office on Wednesday, but he did not elaborate.
