Sri Muda assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei finally turned up at the Shah Alam police headquarters, a day after he went missing.

NONE He arrived at the station at around 4.10pm to give his statement to the police in relation to a police report lodged against him over a blog post that allegedly insulted the royalty.

Speaking to the media briefly, Shuhaimi ( left in pic ) denied claims that he went into hiding, saying that he had been tied up with prior engagements.

“I just came back from Indonesia two days ago, and last night I had a meeting with Selangor GLCs (government-linked companies). Today I also have a function in Section 7, so claims that I am running away are all lies,” he said, before heading into the station.

Five minutes earlier, two truckloads of Light Strike Force (LSF) personnel arrived at the entrance to the police headquarters, in anticipation of a crowd of supporters.

Around 30 LSF members armed with shields and batons lined up on either side of the entrance gate and around the vicinity of the police headquarters.

NONE The main gate was also closed, with a guard manning it to allow only certain vehicles in and out of the station.

About 100 supporters assembled in front of the police headquarters, including Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.

Shuhaimie spent over two hours giving his statement before emerging at around 6.30pm, to cheers of ‘ reformasi ’ and ‘ Hidup Rakyat ’.

He said he had cooperated fully with the police and was treated well over the course of giving his statement.

Shuhaimie was also accompanied by three lawyers; Subang MP R Sivarasa, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin and Amer Hamzah Arshad.

No intention to vacate seat

Meanwhile, Shuhaimie repeated that he has no intention of vacating his seat.

Responding to questions regarding SMSes that have circulated since this morning claiming he was going to quit, Shuhaimie said he “had no idea I am going to quit”.

“Even I myself didn’t know I was going to quit, so obviously the rumours are false and not worth paying attention to,” he said.

Shuhaimie noted however that he is currently drafting a letter requesting an audience with the Sultan of Selangor to explain his side of the story regarding his controversial blog posting.

“This is not a letter of apology, but if the sultan feels slighted (by the blog posting) then I will apologise and seek his forgiveness,” he said.
