Police reports against 'Datuk T' pour in
About 30 Kedah PKR members held a 10-minute rally outside the Alor Setar police station to demand the arrest of the ‘Datuk T' trio.
PKR leaders from across the country have filed several police reports against the group called 'Datuk T' for their involvement in a sex tape which allegedly implicates Anwar Ibrahim.
In Kuala Lumpur, Kelana Jaya MP Low Gwo Burne lodged a police report against Datuk T for distributing pornographic material and criminal intimidation.
"We want the police to launch a proper, transparent and thorough investigation into this," said Loh before entering the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.
He was accompanied by Batu MP Tian Chua and Kapar MP S Manikavasagam.
Datuk T is the code name for three figures - former Malacca Chief Minister Rahim Tamby Chik, businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim.
The three said they were responsible for inviting selected news organisations to a screening of a sex tape, allegedly depicting PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim with a prostitute.
Earlier today, about 30 Kedah PKR members held a 10-minute rally outside the Alor Setar police station to demand the arrest of the ‘Datuk T' trio.
Led by state PKR committee member Gooi Hsiao Leung, they also lodged a police report at the station after the rally.
The group carried banners and shouted slogans of reformasi while passing vehicles tooted in support.
There were also representatives from Baling, Kuala Ketil, Alor Setar and Kubang Pasu.
The police were asked to investigate the trio for criminal offences under Section 292 of the Penal Code and Section 5(1) of the Film Censorship Act 2002, for publicly exhibiting obscene or pornographic material and under Section 503 of the penal code for criminal intimidation and blackmailing of Anwar Ibrahim and wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
It is learnt that a similar report was lodged in Balik Pulau yesterday.
Speaking to reporters before the rally, Gooi said that despite Anwar strongly denying that he was the man in the sex tape, Rahim Thamby Chik and his accomplices continued to demand the opposition leader quit politics.
He said the former Malacca chief minister’s call for a royal commission of inquiry to determine the authenticity of the video, while deliberately getting the king involved in dirty politics, is a total insult to the royal institution.
“The police have neglected their duties by standing by idly, doing nothing the last few days and allowing the Datuk T trio to freely go on a rampage with their campaign to blackmail Anwar,” said the lawyer.
De facto Law Minister Nazri Aziz’s statement “not to kill the messenger” as reported by Malaysiakin i yesterday and that no law has been broken in screening the sex video to the media is both shocking and disturbing,” he added.
Gooi said the Datuk T trio are not mere innocent messengers, but “crooks and culprits” who have planned, organised and launched this blackmail campaign to humiliate and destroy a leading public figure’s reputation.
He added that the party strongly condemned gutter politics and the police inaction.
He urged the police take immediate action to arrest the Datuk T trio for the offences they have blatantly committed with utter impunity.
