Two individuals involved in the Monday screening of a sex video allegedly depicting Anwar Ibrahim have handed the footage and a watch over to the police.

rahim thamby chik at bukit aman 240311 02 One of the two, former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik, told reporters late this evening that the authorities can now study the video clip.

“I gave the original version of the recordings, a version that (the) forensic (department) can study to ascertain its authenticity.

“I also surrendered the watch to the police, despite the other side denying that the watch belonged to them,” said Rahim.

azlan He said that experts can now lift DNA samples from the watch to determine its owner.

The police have said that they are investigating the video based on Section 292 of the Penal Code for the distribution of obscene material.

It appears that the investigations may have been expanded given that the police have now accepted the watch, allegedly retrieved from the hotel room where the video was recorded.

Not asked where recording took place

Strangely, Rahim claimed that he was not asked for the location where the video was allegedly recorded.

"I was not asked by the police about where was the video recorded," said Rahim.

Rahim was speaking to reporters after spending five hours at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters where his statements were recorded.

azlan Businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah who was also questioned at the same time gave reporters the slip by existing through a rear exit.

The duo called themselves ‘Datuk T’ or ‘Datuk Trio’. They claimed Perkasa treasurer-general Shuib Lazim is a third member of the group. 

They held a press conference yesterday after their identity was made known by Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul, who claimed that the 'Datuk T' group were trying to entice defections and framing Anwar. Shuib was absent from the press conference.

The 'Datuk T' group is insisting that a independent panel be set up to establish the veracity of the video.

Shuib to be quizzed tomorrow

Earlier today, Rahim and Eskay arrived slightly after 5pm at Bukit Aman.

Shuib, however, is believed to be outstation. He is scheduled to have his statement recorded tomorrow.

NONE Earlier, Rahim's special officer Ghazali Zainal said Rahim was prepared to give a statement to the police if called upon to do so.

He said Rahim declined to comment further on the matter after he had spoken to the media yesterday, along with Eskay and Shuib.

The trio had screened the video for selected journalists on Monday at the Carcosa Seri Negara hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

On Tuesday, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters after he had denied a day earlier that he was the man alleged to be in the sex video.
