Selangor exco member Hasan Mohamed Ali said he does mind if he was not considered as a candidate for the 13th general election because of his principles.

The state executive councilor in charge of Islamic affairs said: "My struggle is to defend Islam, the Malay agenda and the monarchy."

"For me all three are an important platform from the past until now," he said during a question and answer session on TV3 by Media Prima's executive director for news and editorial operations Ahmad A Talib tonight.

Speaking of PAS, the Gombak Setia state assemblyperson said the PAS central committee had more professionals, 65 percent compared with ulama comprising 35 percent.

As such, he hoped to bring back the status of the ulama to the forefront of the leadership because that would be the group (ulama) that would be able to return PAS to its original track based on the principles of Islam.

Asked if he would leave PAS following the current changes, Hasan said: "I will be with any movement, whether political or not, that will defend Islam, the Malay agenda and the monarchy."
