Anything to save BN slipping down further

Artchan: Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah should have thrown the case out immediately, and that would certainly have been a feather in the cap for the Sodomy II trial judge.

For him to allow the case to drag on for so long, and even at one time calling complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan a truthful witness without hearing the defence, does not speak highly of his character.

Could he have let Anwar free, not because of his conscience but as directed to by Umno, to save the party from further damage?

VP Biden: I believe this was BN's last throw of the dice to regenerate support from those who did not follow the trial and did not know the sequence of events from Saiful meeting PM Najib Razak, about Najib first denying it, Saiful not clearing his bowels for two days, etc.

Pakatan Rakyat has BN by its throat now and needs to deliver a final blow to the cancerous regime. As much information about this kangaroo trial and the corrupt, racist practices of this thieving BN organisation has to be disseminated to the rural areas.

Fair Play : I can't agree with the writer (Abdul Aziz Bari) more. The truth is the rakyat have gotten a lot smarter and more demanding than the powers-that-be care to admit.

It would appear that after more than two years, the trial did not proceed according to the plot. Acquittal seems to be the lesser of the two evils.

AntiRacial: Even though the court has decided Anwar is not guilty, it does not mean the judiciary is truly independent from influence of the BN government because there are many questions that have gone unanswered in this case.

The judge did not explain in his verdict why Saiful went to meet Najib. Or why Saiful did not go and see doctor on the same day he claimed that he was sodomised.

Why there were differences in findings between the first doctor (from a private hospital) and second doctor (from a government hospital)?

Good Men: This analysis is the first I have seen that makes sense. Many have said that this verdict indicates a good sign of some independence entering into the judicial system. That is entirely wrong and misreads the situation.

BN had already painted itself into a corner with the Anwar sodomy persecution, and they had begun to see it was becoming a burden.

The whole fiasco was having the opposite of its intended effects, meaning that the opposition was gaining support as a result, and BN was bleeding because of it.

They now wished they had never started it. This verdict was their least-worst option. It wasn't a great option for them, but the other options would be far worse.

Finding Anwar guilty on such flimsy grounds so shortly before GE13 would have been disastrous and BN and Najib knew this. At least they could try and spin this one positively by claiming an independent judiciary.

Acquittal would not have happened without BN's say-so. The judge didn't suddenly grow a pair of....

Quigonbond: Whether a judiciary is independent or not can only be demonstrated at the Federal Court. So far, due to the Perak debacle, our Federal Court gets a ‘fail'.

Arabungkus: With this ruling, Najib has to work less hard in the upcoming GE. Imagine if the reverse ruling took place. After all, our judiciary system has been raped by the corrupt regime.

Many corrupt ministers are still at large, and not even being investigated. Time has come for them to let the people decide their fate. Najib will be the last PM from Umno.

DNA: The presence of Umno-BN tentacles in all corners of the system is an open secret. If we look at the police, MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), Attorney-General's Chambers and the other government departments, they are all aligned to Umno-BN.

A good example is Sarawak CM Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is untouchable. Similarly, Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is another. The only way to stop the cancer from spreading further is to throw out Umno-BN in GE13.

Freedom7: Perception is what the Umno folks have not come to understand yet; these Umno wallahs think they are still god in this country.

Umno has to ask itself why people have come to hate the party so badly now, to the point my Umno friends have to hide the fact they are Umno members.

Anonymous: They never expected such overwhelming public support, both within and without. There have been many cases where it was utterly obvious that there was an outright interference in the judiciary.

Anyway, we have some judges in our midst who do not uphold the oath of office to which they vehemently swore that they will uphold.

I suppose money and retirement benefits outweighs any amount of sworn testimony. They are but a bunch of legal misfits absolutely devoid of sound judicial reasoning and principles.

Zimbobwe: BN's power hinges entirely on its control of the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), the AG's Chambers, MACC and Petronas. The Umno old guards are very worried that their elaborate retirement plans will soon be scuttled.
