'Umno's tentacles are all over public coffers'
FREE YOURSAY 'DBKL, you don't understand the separation of powers between a political party and a local government.'
DBKL: Public funds not used to fete minister
Ipoh Mali:
They can't afford the RM10,000 to assist residents' associations (RAs) but they can afford to give away RM250 million to rear cows and provide cheap beef for the nation. Unfortunately, the ‘cows in charge' can't even rear chickens.
VP Biden: Umno tentacles are all over public coffers. Don't talk nonsense, DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall). You don't understand the separation of powers between a political party and a local government.
Anonymous_40f4: There are many hyenas feeding on DBKL's (read: rakyat's) money. The ‘datuk bandar' (mayor) and the council members must be elected by the people of Kuala Lumpur. There is no transparency in all DBKL dealings, so cronies of Umno have a field day.
Pendatang: I have been invited to attend Hari Wilayah Persekutuan yesterday at the Institut Latihan Dewan Bandaraya in Cheras. Can DBKL tell me who is paying for the high tea and rental of the venue?
Is Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin paying for it?
Artchan: Why use RA's money for the NGOs and DBKL events? If NGOs and DBKL want to organise anything for a syok sendiri exercise or to bodek the minister... go ahead, use your own money, and you can invite the whole world and no one would be bothered.
Justicekini: We would rather have DBKL local council elections. Then it would became a local council with elected officials and it will not entertain such matters which are not related to any minister's function or use it as Umno's funds.
Hacks: I can't wait for the 13th general election results for Lembah Pantai, when (present MP) Nurul Izzah Anwar will thrash Raja Nong Chik.
Ruben: Well, let me repeat, instead of wasting so much money on sprucing up the roundabout in Lucky Garden, Bangsar, merely to provide publicity for Raja Nong Chik to formally declare open a Go Green campaign, a lot of this money could have been used on the rubbish issues in Lucky Garden, our old and rusted water pipes, and the problems of crows. (Sorry, the solution is not to cut the trees)
Pants on Fire: Biasa lah ini . As long as BN is in power, these will continue forever. So please stop complaining if you had voted this government in. You deserve the government that you get.
CiViC: Yes, DBKL is right, it's not used to fete the minister. It's just used to feed the minister.
PKR fumes over 'clandestine gerrymandering'
Anonymous_3f4a: Pakatan Rakyat should set up a special task force to counteract these illegal activities by the Election Commission (EC) to ensure that Umno-BN remains in office.
Rumours are abound that the underhanded tactics used to depose Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) from office in the 1990s are being replicated in Selangor - the illegal immigrants who were given MyKads in Sabah are being transferred to Selangor to vote in the coming election.
One Umno division in Sandakan is said to have been given the task of organising 3,000 such phantom voters to be transported to Selangor.
Up2U: The EC must answer every question and discrepancy raised, otherwise it stands guilty as accused.
If the EC continues to circumvent the issues raised, then Malaysians must rise and strongly protest against these lopsided, unethical and unfair practices.
Kairos: As the general election draws near, we must watch the EC like a hawk. Every assemblyperson is responsible for their own constituency. Do what PKR vice-president Fuziah Salleh and Subang MP R Sivarasa have done.
Check and re-check the electoral rolls pertaining to your own constituency to make sure there is no hanky-panky going on. If not, the cheats will slip in some surprises without you knowing it.
When you find out later on, it may be too late already. So, be alert and vigilant because the stakes are very high at the next GE.
Bob Teoh: GE13 is an election Umno cannot afford to lose. Otherwise, they all end up in jail.
They will, and have resorted, to their bags of dirty tricks - the use of race and religion cards, formation of a vigilante corp of 2.8 million Rela members, and hand out cash to voters.
So what's new with gerrymandering? They do it all the time. MCA, MIC Gerakan are already gone. Make sure Umno is gone too.
Boiling Mud: My brother and his wife were originally registered to vote in Penang. Due to work necessity, they later moved to and settled in Ipoh and had their addresses in the identity card changed to Ipoh.
Ever since, they have been trying to change their voting stations to anywhere in or around Ipoh. Their many repeated requests were denied through the years.
Until today, they remain as registered voters in Penang. It has been almost 25 years.
Anonymous: Indeed, the gerrymandering started in the GE12. They shifted my wife's parliamentary constituency from Gopeng to Ipoh Timor. EC is the real culprit.
Kgen: An non-level playing field is bad enough, we have cheating as well. How to kick out BN?
