Voters are urged to vote with sense and spare some of MCA’s good apples during the coming general election, said former MCA Wanita chief Chew Mei Fun.

This is because these good apples can act as a check and balance with its BN allies and Pakatan Rakyat, Chew told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

NONE Chew ( right ) also opined that rejecting MCA candidates, regardless of their qualities, was a ‘dangerous’ move.

“You just can't say cut off (the candidates). This is dangerous. If you were to make that decision, (you will) lose a good person,” said the former Petaling Jaya Utara MP.

She noted that voters generally had the attitude of voting for party, instead of considering the qualities of the candidate, during the last general election.

As for the coming election, she said the situation would be either maintained or would deteriorate.

“It is my opinion that in an election, it is sensible to choose the party as well as look for (good) candidates, you must keep the good apples,” she said.

When asked if she will made a comeback for the coming elections, she dismissed the question.

Chew was once a prominent figure in MCA politics and was appointed deputy women, family and community development minister.

She, however, later honoured her promise to quit all her party and ministerial posts after Dr Chua Soi Lek was elected as the new party president two years ago.

She had earlier said that if Chua were elected as president, she would quit all her posts.
