MB reps walk out of Talam debate
Multi Racial: MCA allowed themselves to be used by Chua junior. Labis MP Chua Tee Yong thought he can fool the public into believing that he is brave to debate with Selangor MB and that Khalid Ibrahim was too afraid to turn up.
In the first place, Selangor MB has made it very clear he would not debate with Tee Yong, and rightly so. Who is Chua junior to demand to debate with anybody he wishes? He should know his position is far too junior to pip himself against the MB.
The fact remains, Talam was a scandal created by previous Selangor government under BN. Pakatan government under Khalid managed to resolve the issue in the interest of Selangor. Tee Yong made a boo-boo in raising the matter without first checking the facts.
And now he tried to get out of the situation and he thought by challenging someone high up who will not accept his invitation, it would make him a hero.
Pissed Off: Chua Tee Yong obviously doesn't know the meaning of the words delegation of authority, responsibility and accountability.
The MB delegated his responsibility to the four representatives but he is still accountable for their actions, and the quartet have the authority to address any genuine concerns that MCA might have put forth.
Unfortunately, Chua knew that he did not have the mettle to do so. He decided to embarress the MB (and his representatives) rather than address the issues.
Anonymous #19098644: What Khalid has done is to enrich Selangor with over RM2 billion in cash reserves.
He protected the interest of all Selangorians and show that the false water crisis of Selangor is the creation of the Umno cronies and Syabas. He declared Selangor's legal claim on the railway land, and prevent it from been stolen in the proposed BN privatisation.
Absalom: This is not a very wise decision for the MB or the Selangor government to send reps to debate for him and definitely not at this type of event.
Anyway, what is there to defend? Khalid has even been brave enough to have a credible audit firm look into it (unlike all those real scams where everything is swept under the carpet).
CTY is just looking for airtime and publicity in the ever-so-credible and unbiased MSM (mainstream media) which you can bet, will make it look like a fantastic victory for this loser and his party.
As the deputy agricultural minister, has CTY ever questioned or raised the issues of NFC (National Feedlot Corporation), which are much closer to home? If not, he should shut up and stop wasting the Selangor MB's time and resources.
YUNoAnon: Didn't CTY himself dodge a couple of invites to debate with Tony Pua a few months back? At least, this time around Pakatan was gracious enough to send representatives to debate the issue.
Moontime: Ever heard of the statement, "Pick on someone your own size?"
Khalid sent four reps to the debate but the organiser insisted on having the MB. It seems to me that MCA has been infected with the ‘Arrogance' virus originated from Umno.
They believe even young punks like the son of CSL (Chua Soi Lek) can take on the Selangor MB. It's time to end this charade once and for all.
You're afraid that the reps will make mincemeat of your arguments.
Changeagent: I have to agree with PAS MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad that Chua Tee Yong and MCA had missed a golden opportunity to expose Pakatan Rakyat's alleged wrongdoings.
The aim of their game is to try to convince as many fence-sitters and undecided voters as possible that the state Pakatan government is corrupt, and that they should vote for MCA/BN instead in the coming elections. On that count, they have seriously failed, big time.
P Dev Anand Pillai: Even numero uno himself, i.e. Mr 1Msia, does not dare debate Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, why must Khalid take up such a challenge with leaders who can't understand accounts?
Talam was saved by the Pakatan government - if it was BN, it would have allowed Talam to go under and cause further miseries to buyers who have yet to get their housing units completed and delivered.
Pakatan has cleaned up a mess made by BN. If the Chinese can't see this, then it will be best that they submit to being second or third-class citizens under BN after the Indonesians, instead of being first amongst the equals under Pakatan.
A Malaysian: What is wrong with debating the MB's representatives? You are debating the topic, not the MB.
If the MB is obliged to be summoned by you to the podiumjust because of your accusations, then I believe our PM and Umno leaders will be very busy attending debates nationwide.
Quigonbond: It's funny. If Chua really has his facts all sorted out, he shouldn't chicken out just because there were four representatives from the Selangor government. The time cost for the four representatives would have exceeded his.
That's showing him some respect for his deputy ministerial position already. Imagine if he withstood the quartet, his political star would have rose up in the sky overnight.
Too bad he missed the chance, and now the purported debate will be known as a waste of time even for his supporters, and a cheap stunt by the rest of the public.
MCA debate: Message more important than messenger
