The main agenda of the general assemblies of Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri today will focus on their final preparations for the upcoming 13th general election (GE13), especially in boosting the spirit and enhancing the strategy for party members.

Speakers chosen to debate the policy speech of their respective chiefs, as well as the motions on economy, education and religion, will definitely make the assembly as the best platform to share their ideas and plans to strengthen the party's election machinery to ensure big victory for Umno in the GE13.

NONE The chief of each wing has also reminded their members to make optimum use of their respective assemblies to finalise their preparations for the GE13, which is expected to be called anytime soon.

Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin ( left ) said Umno Youth should make the assembly as the platform to send a clear signal and message to the people that Umno was still committed to serve for the religion, the race and the country.

He also called on approximately 700,000 members of Umno Youth to play a bigger role in the GE13, including in luring young voters to support Umno and BN.

The GE13 has also been described to be the mother of all elections that will determine whether BN will continue to be the ruling party in the country.

Although satisfied with the Wanita's momentum and preparation for the GE13, its chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has also reminded Wanita members, who numbered 1.3 million, not to stay in their comfort zones as the political situation in the country would continue to change and become more challenging.

To ensure that the champion trophy will remain with Umno and BN, Wanita has no other choice but to stay united, high-spirited and disciplined in facing the GE 13, she said.

Umno Puteri ready for action

Meanwhile, the youngest wing of Umno, Puteri, is not spared from having to be in full preparedness, besides ensuring that young voters will continue to support the BN-led government.

Ketua Puteri Umno, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin Its chief Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin ( right ) said a total of 394,316 Puteri members must help Umno to win the GE 13 after winning two parliamentary seats and six out of eight state seats contested in the 2008 general election.

Party president Najib Abdul Razak in his briefing for division leaders and members of Umno Supreme Council at the Merdeka Hall today, also reminded Umno members on how important it was for them to close ranks to face the GE13.

The reminder given by the party president, that Umno members should work harder and be more aggressive in winning the hearts of the people, should be given serious attention as the people's support will be the determining factor for the party to win or lose the election.

When briefing the speakers for the assemblies today, Deputy President Muhyiddin Yassin also reminded them to focus their debates on matters that would politically benefit the party.

Describing the general assemblies as the most important platform to show the people that Umno was the strongest Malay party, the deputy prime minister also called on the delegates to voice out their opinions rationally and accurately as the people had a very high expectation of Umno.

A total of 2,973 delegates, or 991 of each wing, will attend the general assemblies, with the Wanita assembly being held at the Merdeka Hall, while Youth and Puteri at the Tun Dr Ismail Hall and Tun Hussein Onn Hall, respectively.
