VOXPOP 'This must have been what Umno wanted all along - for the Sabah RCI not to complete its inquiry before GE13.'
Sabah RCI term extended for six months
Tonsommansabi: I'm not surprised by the six-month extension of the Sabah royal commission of inquiry (RCI).
I for one believe that the end result of the RCI in Sabah would be a disappointment to genuine Sabahans if the Umno-led BN government were to return to power after GE13.
As a Sabahan (a Kadazan Dusun Murut, or KDM), I am confounded that PBS, Upko and PBRS are still enjoying their partnership with Umno.
The three presidents of the KDM parties can choose to remain in Umno-BN but lose substantial support from Sabahans, especially the KDM community, or they choose to be with the genuine rakyat in Sabah by cutting ties with Umno-BN.
The choice is theirs, but for the majority of the genuine rakyat in Sabah, the choice is definitely not Umno-BN.
Joseph Pairin Kitingan (and Bernard Dompok and Joseph Kurup), will you still have the courage to repeat what you did in 1985?
FellowMalaysian: This must have been what Umno wanted all along - for the RCI not to complete its inquiry before GE13.
As the damning revelations has shown so far, Umno's fingerprints are all over the intricate workings of the Project M/Project IC that foster the birth of 'instant citizens' and they came complete with ‘fake' naturalisation papers.
We await with eager eyes to know the outcome of the RCI and in particular, to know how many new voters were created and whether it was done within the law.
Chipmunk: The answer to the RCI inquiry is well-documented by the recent incursion of the armed gunmen from Sulu. What more is there to say? It is evident that there are illegal immigrants from the Philippines and Indonesia.
Malaysiawatch4: It is okay to extend the RCI by six months. When Pakatan Rakyat takes over, they can include new terms of reference so that a new RCI need not be called.
Tian Chua to be charged over Lahad Datu 'plot' remark
Ahmed: I can't see how Batu MP Tian Chua's stupid comments can incite the people to rise up against the state. Seditious, my foot.
It looks nothing more than a cheap shot to me. Perhaps Umno fears that his statement may cause people to rise up against Umno.
Is Umno the state? This is yet another misuse and abuse of power by Putrajaya.
Saengch: The BN government machinery must attack Tian Chua to destroy what they think is the "Chinese face" in PKR, so that BN can force Pakatan parties to degrade and "look" as racially-segregated as BN.
With that, BN can compete with Pakatan on racial basis - a battle which BN finds it easier to win.
Remember when Tian Chua talked about Lahad Datu, there was a blackout of information on Sabah and well as conflicting statements from the authorities. As an MP, Tian Chua has a duty to ask questions to verify the rumours swirling around.
Jean Pierre: Sedition - inciting or causing people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch. What if the authority or monarch is evil?
Kim Quek: The frivolous abuse of the antiquated and repressive Sedition Act to charge Tian Chua is symptomatic of a panic-stricken regime hitting out at all and sundry on the cusp of losing power in an impending election.
Incidentally, shouldn't the police have also used the same Act to charge Umno leaders with equal zeal and speed for having made the surreal and reckless accusation that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has masterminded the Lahad Datu incursion?
Malaysiawatch4: So much has been revealed about Project IC that may have a connection to the armed intrusion, but yet no action has been taken against the mastermind who even admitted he was aware of it... and yet we have this action?
Where are the priorities of the police?
OMG!!: Tian Chua, or for that matter, any person who has committed a wrong against the laws should be charged.
But why the laws are always used against opposition figures and dissidents only? What about Ibrahim Ali, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and their thugs?
And why is it that the government dare not declare war on the Sulu army that invaded and occupied the country's territory?
The Script: First, the man's words were maliciously twisted out of context by pro-Umno bloggers, then the ministers trumped them up, despite the man having publicly clarified the context in which they were uttered, and shortly after, the all-too-familiar sedition charge.
Upon conviction, there goes his right to stand for election. All too coincidental and convenient?
