YOURSAY 'It only goes to show that no transformation took place in these five years. All of them are waiting to make a comeback.'

Samy Vellu: I've no doubt I'm a winnable candidate

your say Ferdtan: Former MIC president S Samy Vellu wants to come back to contest in the election as he still thinks he is a ‘winnable' candidate.

What does it tell you about the present crop of MIC leaders? That is the level of confidence the former strongman of MIC sent to the current party president G Palanivel. Palanivel had been so low-key that not many Malaysians know him at all.

From hindsight, was it the intention of BN's strategy not to use the unpopular MIC as the vehicle to win the Indians' support back to BN?

Was it supposed to be through Hindraf (and its political arm Human Rights Party) to cause disunity and confusion among the Indians? Didn't Umno uses Perkasa as their vehicle to woo the Malays back to BN?

The two Hindraf brothers have a lot to explain to the people. If they ask the Indians to abstain from voting, Hindraf would be swept into oblivion. We pity some of the Indians who are duped by them.

Mangodurian: What does he mean by "you can see 1,001 votes were placed into the box which was instigated by somebody who is also in BN". Is he admitting (unwittingly no doubt) that BN can easily place phantom votes into the box?

It just so happened that Dr Mahathir Mohamad wanted him out and he's implying Mahathir (or someone) gave the order to "place extra 1,001 votes" into the ballot box ... just like that!

P Dev Anand Pillai: It only goes to show that no transformation took place in these five years. All of them are waiting to make a comeback.

It is up to us the people to make sure, we make the right choice. Enough of corruption and abuse of power, we want a people-centred government that will treat us equally and with respect.

Clever voter: This is the problem with BN leaders. They think they are infallible, great and a saviour to all, hence winnable.

If they are, how come we have such a corrupt and racist government - and worse still, an indebted nation, with low-quality education, an inconsistent judiciary and awful crime records?

Gods Messenger: Samy, I am sure you will not want to disgrace yourself. The Malay proverb for this situation is "Angkat bakul sendiri".

Worried Sick: "This time you can see, even the opposition can't go near the Indian community, as Indians have been well taken care of," he said. He admits that without him at the helm, the Indians have been taken care of. How illuminating!

Tiru: Samy Vellu supporting Hindraf. My god. So many things can change in politics. What happened to MIC's voice when Hindraf was declared illegal?

Who is he talking about when he says the opposition cannot go near the Indian community? How many people would constitute the Indian community. Does he know how many in the community support the opposition?

Now he says BN is a big group and that the PM has the right to talk to everyone he wants to. Previously he was upset when BN paid attention to (then Indian Progressive Front leader) MG Pandithan.

In fact, he said that the Indians can only be represented by MIC. Things can sure change in politics. And so it should. The government should also be changed according to the current political climate.

Smallbigblob: Samy winnable? How preposterous! I'll cut off my ears and throw them into the Indian Ocean.

Raja Chulan: Indian Malaysians have lost so much the last 30 years because of Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his most obedient and loyal ‘mandore', Samy. He and the MIC hijacked and stole whatever little Mahathir had thrown to the Indians.

Before Mahathir and Samy, the Indians were so much better off. They had good representation in the government such as Lembaga Letrik Negara; KTM Berhad; Telecoms; Postal Department; Public Works Department; Health Ministry and hospitals, etc.

The Indians were also enjoying a relatively decent life in the estates. The National Land Finance Cooperative (NLFC) set up by VT Sambanthan had sizeable plantations to match companies like Guthrie, Sime Darby and IOI.

All these disappeared due to the greed and abuses of Mahathir and Samy. Today the Indians have become close to beggars and are at the mercy of Umno-BN. Indeed, Samy sold the Indians lock, stock and barrel to Umno-BN.

Righteous: Samy, so you are a winnable candidate? You want a safe seat, go to Harvey Norman and get a chair. It's now on special offer.

979899: This clown (just airbrush his surgically-assisted hairstyle out of the photo) wants to get elected so that he can attend to the people's ‘masala' (that is how he pronounces the word ‘masaalah')?

Happy days are here again for the political humourists.
