Soi Lek, a general shall never abandon his troops

YOURSAY 'Gelang Patah is your turf, your enemy is at the gates. As a leader of MCA, you should face your enemy head-on.'

'I'm no dictator to take on Kit Siang on a whim'

your say LittleGiant: MCA chief Chua Soi Lek need not get upset with DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang (LKS). He doesn't have to 'beat around the bush' and pretend that he is giving some logical response to his party leaders urging him to face LKS head-on in Gelang Patah.

Why talk about "dictatorship" and all that rubbish. Isn't MCA taking ‘dictations' from Umno on seat allocations? Why not just admit that Umno has the final say and MCA cannot overrule Umno's decisions?

The truth is many BN leaders have become too cushy and comfortable in their "safe seats" that they wouldn't dare to switch or move to "tough seats" as the outcome could put an end to their political career.

ONG: Of course, Chua Soi Lek can be parachuted into Gelang Patah if he wants to. It is just that he does not want to because he is smart enough to know that Gelang Patah voters are anxiously waiting to hammer him good and proper if he dares go there.

Surely Chua knows that in the history of MCA, it was common practice for MCA to parachute their leaders into their Johor fortress. Such leaders include Ling Liong Sik from god knows where, Ong Ka Ting from Perak and Wee Ka Siong from Malacca.

Dood: Soi Lek is right, he can't simply decide where he wants to contest on a whim. Everyone knows that MCA needs to get big brother Umno's expressed approval on anything it does.

Changeagent: Hey Chua, your Pandan division chief Ong Tee Keat has been serving there for almost nine years since 2004 and continues to enjoy strong grassroots support.

Who is the dictator who refused to endorse him as a MCA candidate in the coming GE? Which dictator also threatened to resign if Najib went ahead and nominated the incumbent Pandan parliamentarian?

Take a long hard look at yourself before you accuse others. You are laughable because you can't see your own baloney.

Geronimo: Brave words and defiant too, coming from a man who is about to meet his 'demise'.

LKS, on the other hand, is his own man. He is a leader who makes decisions without waiting for any big brother to nod his head.

Chua Soi Lek cannot move without PM Najib Razak telling him so, and he has the audacity to call himself a leader? When Najib makes decisions for him, his excuse would be, yes, "in the spirit of BN".

Soi Lek, you have misread the intentions of DAP. A GE is considered a war of sorts and competing in each constituency is a battle.

A good general will strategise and then attack the enemy at its weakest link, and this must not be done piecemeal. It must be done with one fell swoop in order to gain the upper hand.

Yes, there are risks involved and LKS knows it. He is no fool being the veteran he is, but if he does not seize the moment now, it will be lost.

You are no risk taker, that I am sure. You prefer to sit in your own comfort zone leaving all the dirty work to Umno.

Cala: Look across the Causeway - what did PAP of Singapore do the moment they did badly in a by-election? They amended the policy with regard to using foreign labour.

I read somewhere that as much as 88,000 of foreign labourers would not have their working visa renewed. The same question should be asked to MCA - in what ways have they changed to regain the trust of the people/community?

Chua, you can say whatever pleases you. The truth of the matter is, MCA will meet its demise at the 13th general election for failing the community that it represents, for being docile to their master Umno, and for being irresponsible in the cabinet posts occupied by their representatives (for example, Ling Liong Sik in Port Klang Free Zone scandal).

If Umno is regarded as corrupted, then MCA is an accomplice.

Liew Lean Kut: Gelang Patah is your turf, your enemy is at the gates. As a leader of MCA, you should face your enemy head-on.

Come on Chua Soi Lek, show some spunk like former MCA chief Lee San Choon, who went to the lion's den and defeated DAP strongman Chen Man Hin.

Bluemountains: If you claim to be the general, then you are duty bound to defend Gelang Patah, which is your stronghold, from being captured by DAP.

There is no need to give excuses like you are not a dictator and cannot be parachuted into Gelang Patah. Gelang Patah will be gone if you leave it to one of your lieutenants.

A good general will never abandon his troops.

Opah: Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut than open it and invite all kinds of comments.

Najib has already shown that it is he who decides who represents MCA, not Chua Soi Lek or his team. No amount of spin will change that fact.
