SABAH BN chief Najib Abdul Razak does not have a penchant for singing at rallies like his rival Anwar Ibrahim, but he has sure taken note of the latter’s song and dance routines.

NONE At a rally with about 5,000 people in Keningau today, Najib turned Anwar's campaign jingle - Madu dan Racun (Honey and Poison) - on its head to hit out at "unfulfilled promises" by Pakatan Rakyat.

"Opposition promises are like poisonous honey. So it is not a choice of honey or poison,” he said.

"Don't be deceived. It all sounds good, these honey promises but inside there is poison.”

Anwar's popular jingle, adapted from a pop song of the 1980s by Indonesian singer Arie Wibowo, likens Pakatan to honey and BN to poison.

Lambasting PKR's battle cry, Najib said that 'Reformasi' pales in comparison to his own 'Transformasi' as the former only leads to destruction.

"We want to inculcate good values, not teach (people) to attack police. Reject Reformasi because Reformasi never brought us any good. Tranformasi is better than Reformasi,” he said.

“They do Bersih 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, we give out Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) 1.0, 2.0 - and God-willing after the polls, BR1M 3.0 which is better than BR1M 2.0.”

NONE Najib hardly touched on the BN's main opponent in Keningau , Star president Jeffrey Kitingan (left in photo) who is going against his brother and PBS president Joseph Pairin (right in photo) .

Sabah PKR information chief Stephen Sandor, who is relatively unknown, is also in the mix.

"I don't want to speak about (Pairin's) brother, but I respect Pairin as the ‘Huguan Siou’ (Kadazandusun Murut paramount leader).

"Your paramount leader must be defended. If I, a non-Kadazan, can respect him as the ‘Huguan Siou’ what more Kadazans? We must be principled.”

Najib noted that Pairin, who once left BN because of principles, had returned also because of principles.

"He knew that he could help the community more if PBS is in the BN. He has strong principles and I respect him for that," he said.

Keningau-specific items for BN manifesto

Najib further announced that he will add two more items to the BN manifesto specific to Keningau, upon Pairin’s request.

These are allocations for two school halls and more scholarships, particularly for those from the interior.

He said that Pairin, caretaker Chief Minister Musa Aman and he have good relations and that voters should be mindful of this when marking their ballots.

Keningau, considered the Kadazandusun Murut heartland, had seen battle between the brothers in 2008. The elder Pairin won with a majority of 4,624 votes.

On a separate matter, Najib, who has never commented on alleged political violence, expressed "regret" that two incidents had been reported.

"It should not happen. We advise all in this election to be courteous and respect the law," he said to a question.

Penang police said that "improvised explosive devices" were found at a BN ceramah held there last night. One exploded, injuring a party worker.

Utusan Malaysia reported separately that a petrol bomb had been thrown at a BN operations centre in Sungai Leman, Selangor.
