PKR CONGRESS Selangor PKR information chief Shuhaimi Shafiei today reiterated his call for party members to be allowed into state government-linked companies (GLC) and local councils so that they can axe those who are not aligned to the party's policies.

"We have been founded for 15 years and given two terms to rule Selangor. I feel our axe is sharp enough to enter any GLCs and local council to cut down those that are not aligned to the party's policies," he told the 9th PKR Congress this afternoon.

Shuhaimi ( right ) also urged Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who was seated next to the podium, to appoint PKR members to positions in GLCs and local government.

"This is important to train them. But we are against any party members who take the opportunity to enrich themselves - these, we will sack," he said when debating the president's speech.

Earlier, Shuhaimi had recounted PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's speech to the youth's and women's wings yesterday , in which he had said that the party needed to holistically strengthen itself in terms of leadership, recruitment, organisation and finances.

"The finance part, we feel we are weakest but this has not stopped our struggle," said Shuhaimi.

He also pointed out that PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in her policy speech had similarly urged the party's machinery to be geared up for future victories.

Shuhaimi also called for action against party leaders who refused to obey decisions arrived at by political bureau meetings at the branch, state and central levels.

"We urge those who are given the responsibility to execute party decisions but fail to do so, be punished or fined as decided by the party," he said.

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid, who had been adamantly set against appointing party members to GLCs, had faced opposition to his reappointment as head of the PKR-led Selangor government.

However, he was later reappointed with the backing of Wan Azizah who had written to the sultan expressing her support for Khalid, only to be flayed by her deputy Azmin for not seeking consensus from Selangor PKR first.
