Minister: Chinese can be PM if they drop racist mindset

Keturunan Malaysia: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim, Malaysians aren't bothered who the PM is so long as he/she is a PM for all Malaysians.

So please do not be cheeky to say the Chinese can be PM, and in the same breath, infer that the Chinese are racists.

The real racists are you people from Umno, and a good example is the self-professed Malay-first DPM Muhyiddin Yassin and his mentor, former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

You not only have the cheek to say this, the skin of your face is thicker than the brick wall of my house.

Caller: Shahidan is saying nothing original. He is just parroting the senile old man, Mahathir. Stop this silly nonsense, Shahidan.

Umno is a one-race party, and therefore it is racist like MCA and MIC. You need to learn English first to understand what racism means.

The Chinese can never come to power in this country as no right-thinking Malay would allow that to happen.

One cannot be a Chinese and be prime minister because what the former Perlis MB has forgotten is that when race no longer matters, religion will come into the picture - the Chinese candidate has to be a Muslim, and perhaps only then would the Malay electorate consider it.

It is not about being racial, it is more about assimilation of the Chinese and the Indians into Islam and becoming Malays eventually. If this can be achieved, only then can any Malaysian can be PM.

Abasir: So Shahidan is actually saying that MCA has been racist, untrustworthy and double dealing with Umno all these years.

Umno, according to him, has never been race-oriented and never focussed on 'bangsa dan agama'. We must call for a royal commission of inquiry to find out what it is he has been smoking.

So dear Datuk, which argument is correct? Don't forget that there are also Chinese who voted for BN. But it’s sad to note that Umno blames everything on the Chinese.

Tan Kim Keong: Shahidan should be advising the Malay community to break away from racism inculcated by Umno, Perkasa and Malay-Muslim NGOs, and integrate themselves with other races.

The Chinese have already abandoned MCA which is a racialist political party. So he should be exhorting Malays to abandoned Umno, Perkasa and Malay-Muslim NGOs, instead of telling the Chinese what to do.

Haveagreatday: Who are you, Shahidan to dictate what is in the federal constitution? It is you and the rest of the Umnoputras who are playing the racial card to cling on to power.

Your words of abandoning racism should be directed at Mahathir and his cronies. The Chinese are never power hungry nor do they want to be PM and be the big brother.

The Chinese only long for peace, stability and prosperity. If you Umno can provide Malaysia all these and not rob the rakyat by practising corruption, we are already very thankful to God.

Wira: The minority Chinese will support righteous Malays from clean political parties to be prime minister. They will not support racist and corrupt leaders in Umno. Period.

Kamikasi: Hello Mr Minister, I doubt if the Chinese are interested to become PM. As long as fairness prevails in all aspects, I believe the Chinese will be happy.

Help the bumiputeras where necessary but don't prevent good students of other races from getting the best education possible, and don’t allow businesses be blocked and opportunities curtailed.

Treat all races as Malaysian and stop threatening them as if they have not done anything to prosper this beloved country. Please, enough of blaming the Chinese.

Fair&Just: Most of the Chinese who can afford it have already migrated and you can go run your country as you like by yourselves.

Only those poor Chinese who are not able to migrate are forced to stay to eke out a living, and most are not interested to become PM except to ensure that an honest, corrupt free, fair and just government is in place.

Anonymous_5fb: Honestly, I am speechless upon reading Shahidan's comments about Chinese Malaysians. No amount of comments or arguments can convince this kind of ultra-Malay with warped rational. So, don't waste our energy on it.
