NONE Former Indonesian vice-president Jusuf Kalla ( right ) never made critical statements about Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to the Malaysian media, the latter claimed today.

Anwar told a press conference at the Parliament lobby that he had communicated with Jusuf and the latter told him he had never given an interview to any Malaysian blogger or publication.

Anwar also claimed that Jusuf has since sent four objection letters to Berita Harian and New Straits Times among others, over their reports claiming that he had criticised Anwar for breaking a pre-election agreement with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

He said that he was "never convinced" that the Indonesian leader would have released such statements against him including an allegation that he had received foreign funding for the Opposition's Black 505 rallies post elections.

"Jusuf is very concerned about Malaysian politics, and considers me and him as having a good relationship. So I took some time and gave him some space to explain," Anwar said.

He added that Jusuf had sent him a note stating that what appeared in the article carried by Berita Harian was "untrue".

NONE "He asked me not to make any comment on the matter until the media, especially Berita Harian , corrects its statement," Anwar ( right in photo ) said.

Anwar also briefly read an e-mail exchange which purportedly took place between him and Jusuf.

In the exchange, Jusuf had apparently informed Anwar that the individual who had come seeking an interview with the former had admitted that the articles were inaccurate and would correct them accordingly.
