Police have arrested the 44-year-old gunman who allegedly shot Arab Malaysian Bank founder Ahmad Hussain Najadi near a Chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur, nearly two months ago.

According to news reports, Kong Swee Kwan aka "Four Eyes" and two others were arrested in a house in Taiping this morning.

NONE The police are still investigating who had hired him to shoot the prominent businessman.

The police had identified Kong on Aug 6 and had previously said that the shooting might be tied to a land deal.

Hussain, 75, was killed while his wife, Chong Mei Kuen, 49, was injured when they were shot from close range on July 29 after having discussions over a property deal at the Chinese temple along Lorong Ceylon.

According to KL CID chief Ku Chin Wah, the gunman Kong had previously been arrested for possession of stolen goods and extortion but had no murder record.

Ku had said that two men who were at the crime scene, including the taxi-driver who ferried Kong, were also previously caught.

Separately, two women who were "trustees" of the temple were also brought in by police for questioning.
