Kamalanathan, please nip the problem in the bud

YOURSAY 'What do you mean by 'we will advise from time to time'? You mean let this continue and play a drama in the press every year?'

Kamalanathan: Korban in schools not permitted

your say, YoursayAries46: Poor Deputy Education Minister II P Kamalanathan seem powerless to act even against school heads who are openly defying ministry rules. His claim that the cow slaughtering in schools was an oversight is shameful to say the least.

He is blatantly covering up for the SK Puchong Jaya headmaster (HM), like what he did in respect of the Sri Pristina HM's 'canteen in the shower room' bungle.

Kamalanathan's failure to hold the HM accountable for his wrongdoings reflects his gross impotence in his appointed position and his refusal to issue a general circular in order to prohibit repetitions of such breaches is a clear indication of his fear and subservient role in the ministry.

Odin: Kamalanathan, the 1Malaysia emblem or logo is synonymous with inferior quality as was clearly illustrated a while ago by the products sold in 1Malaysia shops, and by BN politicians of which you are one.

A circular must be issued or else there will be another similar incident. I believe there are tens of thousands schools in Malaysia. You tell us how you will find the time to remind them all even once in a while.

You really have a very low intellect, Kamalanathan. That 1Malaysia badge on your jacket breast confirms it.

Anonymous_3e93: Kamalanathan is not solving the problem. When asked if a circular will be issued, he says "no need". Obviously he or his boss has no intention to solve the problem once and for all.

SOPs (standard operating procedures) are meant to ensure that operational people are clear on the action to be taken and there is no grey area when sensitivities are involved.

Oriole: Kamalanathan, this is a relief, but people are losing confidence in the Education Ministry's ability to take care of education in Malaysia. We want decisive action.

Firstly, there has to be a reprimand of the HM for ignoring guidelines. This must be in writing. Secondly, there has to be a stern circular to remind HMs and their deputies to observe etiquette and to focus on education first.

These parameters are necessary given the many uncivilsed events occurring in public education lately. Without these steps, you and the ministry wil. continue to appear incompetent and indecisive.

And this will continue to encourage racist heads like the Seri Pristana HM, the countless racist teachers asking children to go back to god knows where, teachers hitting their students with footwear and what not, and schools turning into slaughterhouses, further eroding your ministry's standing.

Bravemalaysian: Now we have a eunuch deputy minister who only know how to kiss the hands of his ‘tuans' and failing to issue a directive to all schools binding them to the ‘cow slaughtering' ban in schools.

I am not against such religious practice but it should be confined to the suraus and masjids and young people should not watch it. That's why we censor films that has too much violence, and this should apply even to animals, what more animals considered sacred to some.

Pigs are considered unclean to Muslims, but cows are sacred to the Hindus. I wonder which one should be accorded more respect; a belief that something is unclean, or something that is sacred.

Our whole value system has been perverted and some now think that this country belongs only to a certain race. Remember that other races were instrumental in independence, and they also died defending this country, including during the ‘Konfrontasi'. This is most outrageous.

Anticommunalist: Schools are definitely never been officially designated for slaughtering cows.

Even the SK Puchong Jaya HM admitted that he did not seek permission from the Education Ministry as well as admitted that there is no such written paper in black and white stating that slaughtering of cows can be done at school premises.

ACR: Slaughtering cows in schools is very widespread and Kamalanathan needs to appraise himself of this fact. Knowingly or unknowingly, many Muslim teachers and parents think it is permissible.

Would not a circular be necessary in this instance? What do you mean by 'we will advise from time to time'? You mean let this continue and play a drama in the press every year?

Abasir: Hand-kisser Kamalanathan will not put this writing because he can always say he was misquoted by the media. Especially when Perkasa comes knocking on his door.

In fact for all we know, there is a Umno directive allowing Umno headmasters to do whatever they like in their schools. (Membership has its privileges, remember?).

That is why children get sent to the toilet for their meals and cows get slaughtered in the premises and that too, during school hours.

A patriot: I had served in several government schools from the 60s to the 90s. I had been well informed of affairs in schools in the peninsula as a senior teacher trade union official and I have never heard or being told of such practices in government schools.

Comments: How can an apologist respond to the issuing of a directive. It is like asking an office boy to issue a circular on certain matters. His reply will always be the same as Kamalanathan's. Maybe in different form but same in substance.
