SG LIMAU Yesterday's Sungai Limau by-election shows that Chinese support for the BN has increased, says deputy Gerakan chief Cheah Soon Hai.

NONE Utusan Malaysia today quotes Cheah (left) as saying that BN's support from the Chinese community had increased by between 60 and 70 percent.

This was observed from the wresting back of three Chinese areas, namely Sungai Limau, Kabu 10 and Simpang Tiga, by the BN this time.

"We lost these areas in the 13th general election due to the Chinese but this time, these three areas returned to BN's fold," Cheah is quoted as saying.

He added that the swing was a reflection of Chinese voters' confidence in BN to develop Sungai Limau.

"Even though BN lost, it managed to get back the Chinese support," he is reported as telling the Malay daily.
