Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Kuala Lumpur High Court, claiming that it appears as if it is in line with “Umno's scheme of things”.

He was commenting on the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s decision not to allow a postponement of Karpal Singh's sentencing for sedition to tomorrow afternoon instead of in the morning.

Lawyer Ram Karpal said a letter had been sent to the court yesterday, seeking a change in the time set. However, in its reply today, the court rejected the application.

Karpal was found guilty of sedition on Feb 21 for remarks about Perak sultan Azlan Shah in the removal of Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin as menteri besar of Perak.

Anwar (left) said Karpal is his lawyer and a family friend.

“Of course we want to give him support. So does (DAP parliamentary leader) Lim Kit Siang.

"Tomorrow morning is also the nomination day for the Kajang by-election and we have Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail contesting, so some of us have to be there.

"It is difficult, with the court not allowing this arrangement - as if it is following on the Umno scheme of things."

He said members of his family and Pakatan Rakyat leaders and members will now have to divide their presence tomorrow between the court and the nominations centre in Kajang.

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will replace Anwar, her husband, as a candidate in the by-election on March 23 for the Kajang state seat.

Anwar was speaking to reporters after his former chief of staff Ibrahim Yaacob posted bail of RM10,000 at 12.45pm today.

Last Friday, the Court of Appeal had overturned Anwar’s acquittal of the charge on appeal by the government.

It found him guilty of sodomising former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan at the Desa Damansara condominium between 3.15pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.

Anwar’s defence team filed a notice of appeal earlier today at the Court of Appeal to set aside the conviction, and a copy has since been served on the Federal Court.

Pakatan MPs plan to boycott tomorrow's sitting of the Dewan Rakyat in solidarity with Anwar and Karpal.

However, he said the court had replied today that it was not allowing this application.

Anwar was met after his former chief of staff Ibrahim Yaacob posted bail following his Sodomy II conviction.

He posted the bail of RM10,000 at 12.45pm, following Friday's conviction and sentencing.
