PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang appears keen to keep Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor menteri besar even though he has lost majority support, says PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

 

"What concerned me in the discussion is that when Hadi was asked about his views on a way out (of the Selangor crisis), he answered the solution was to maintain Abdul Khalid and he will personally oversee any of Khalid's weaknesses," Nik Nazmi said in a statement today.

 

Hadi’s unstinting support for Khalid was revealed during a meeting yesterday between the PAS president and other Pakatan Youth chiefs ( right ) – PAS’ Suhaizan Kaiat and Dapsy’s Teo Kok Seong.

 

Nik Nazmi said Hadi’s decision went against the majority support commanded by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in the state assembly as the next MB.

 

"(Hadi insists on Khalid as MB) even though the issue of appointing a (new) menteri besar has yet to be resolved, and Khalid is only acting as a transitional menteri besar as requested by the Selangor sultan.

 

"What more, Khalid is an independent state assemblyperson without any party," Nik Nazmi added.

 

Another flip-flop from Hadi

PKR, which has cited difficulty in working with Khalid, had instructed him to resign as menteri besar but the Port Klang state assemblyperson refused.

 

He was subsequently sacked from PKR and remains without a party.

 

Khalid has stayed on temporarily as menteri besar pending a resolution to the issue.

 

Hadi is refusing to support Wan Azizah ( left ) as menteri besar, despite her backing from PKR and DAP.

 

Nik Nazmi said the latest revelation by Hadi appears to be yet another flip-flop which goes against his own party decision and falls outside the framework of the Pakatan stand.

 

Yesterday's meeting with the youth chiefs was part of a series of engagements by Pakatan Youth with top leaders to help resolve the Selangor crisis.
