'World reps watching, win polls as gift for PM'

P KUBOR Come Sept 25, BN must win at the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election as a gift to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak who is away in New York.
Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said a BN victory was crucial because world representatives at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York were keeping tabs on the by-election.
"This will imbue the spirit of the prime minister, who is in New York and BN will reflect the national pride that the majority of the people still need it (coalition)," he said.
Najib is in New York until Sept 28 to attend the general assembly and among his programmes there includes being invited as a main speaker at the International Launch Of Global STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Alliance.
Muhyiddin also rapped the attitude of the opposition which had slandered BN as a party of infidels.
In his speech after Zohor prayers at the Pengkalan Kubor Mosque, Muhyiddin said Muslims in the country must be united, regardless of their political ideologies.
"Despite differences in terms of ideology or creed, we must be united because our real struggle is to get the pleasure of Allah," he said.
The by-election is held, following the death of BN incumbent Noor Zahidi Omar on Aug 20.
At the by-election, BN candidate Mat Razi Mat Ail will face PAS candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
At the 13th general election, Noor Zahidi beat PKR candidate Saharun Ibrahim and Izat Bukhary with a majority of 1,736 votes.
