Ex-MB hits back at critics of water deal

Former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that a review of all contracts, signed during his tenure, is more than welcomed.

 

After maintaining his silence since his resignation for six days, Khalid, in a series of tweets today, stated that the amount made for the Selangor water restructuring is fair. 

 

“If anyone wants to review, please make sure that the rakyat does not pay more than that amount,” said Khalid. 

 

He also asked that the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate all agreements signed by him. 

 

"This includes the water deal and the Canal City development agreements. My lawyer will release statements on this," said Khalid. 

 

A few days before his resignation, Khalid signed the water deal and the Canal City development agreement. 

 

His successor Azmin Ali, had said that he will review all agreements signed during the tenure of Khalid. 

 

Khalid’s statements came after PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday that he knows cronies who have benefitted millions from the agreements signed by Khalid. 

 

Khalid said that the offer of RM1.8 billion made by him to Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor (Splash) is fair. 

 

“If we were to pay more than that, then we would be played out by the game of political rhetorics,” said Khalid. 

 

He has been criticised for his offer to Splash, before he was asked to resign by the party.
