The 2015 Budget is a trap for people in the low income group, making them forever reliant on government incentives, says PAS vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

“With the subsidy cuts and the increase of BR1M incentives next year, the low and middle income groups will be forever trapped in a BN-made prison,” Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement.

He also questioned if this is BN’s strategy to remain in power.

“The increment in fuel prices will cause the increase of the prices of goods, which in turn will

make the people pay more in goods and services tax (GST).

“This allows the claim that the ravine was purposefully dug out to trap the common man,” Tuan Ibrahim ( left ) added.

Echoing Tuan Ibrahim, Kuala Nerus MP Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the “one-off giving” of bonuses and incentives is an unsustainable way to ease the cost of living.

“The implementation of GST and subsidy cuts will only cause the common man to suffer in the long run,” Khairuddin said in a statement.

“The negligence and failure of the government to examine the socio-economic impact of GST and subsidy cuts on the people are actually causing the people to be persecuted, instead of being defended by the budget.”

'A very apologetic budget'

Meanwhile, PAS Youth information chief Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman said the budget this time seems very “apologetic”.

The theme 'People's Economy Budget' is basically the government's way of apologising after the slew of economic oppressions on the low and middle income people, Ahmad Tarmizi  said.

“So where are all the the Datuk and Tan Sri, the so-called intellectuals on the national economy?

“Have their ideas run dry in trying to boost the economy, apart from taking from the people's pockets?” he asked.
