'Budget shows KJ's power, may become DPM'

Kee Thuan Chye: Veteran newsman A Kadir Jasin is talking through his a**e. Just because Najib Abdul Razak gives sports a bigger allocation, that means Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) is a potential deputy prime minister (DPM)? That's so naïve.

Najib is well-known for being a football aficionado, so perhaps he's providing more for sports to give football a boost. Hasn't he talked about World Cup finals qualification before? Kadir is trying to fool us into believing that it's so easy to get picked as DPM. The knives of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his son and their cronies will come out first.

I suspect Kadir is creating a false alarm here to stop Khairy from rising because Kadir himself is pro-Mahathir. So let's not fall for the spin of an agent provocateur.

I have no faith in Khairy either; he's as sly as they come. If his time comes, he will take the racist line, like every one of his predecessors. Observe how he has twisted and turned the last several years. Not a guy I'd trust.

Dr Suresh Kumar: You read my mind, Kee Thuan Chye. Sadly, most of the Pakatan Rakyat diehard supporters do not use their brains before commenting. They just love to shoot their mouths off, based on emotion rather than logic.

It is immaterial whether they are British-educated or Harvard-educated; once they join Umno, they have to 'toe the line' and play to the gallery, just like Pakatan.

I have always maintained that many Umno members are not really racist people per se, they have to assume that racist role to be in power and seen to be significant to the ruling elites and, at the same time, appear as the defenders of the ordinary Malay populace and their religion, so that they get the their votes to continue the pilferage the national coffers, as well as sit on the board of directors of major Malaysian successful companies run by kafirs such as Vincent Tan, Ananda K, YTL, etc, and earn millions for doing nothing.

Bernard Phillips: This appears to be the kiss of death from Mahathir's man, to ensure that Khairy goes no further. And one more nail into PM Najib's coffin. Both Khairy and the PM should be wary. But for ordinary Malaysians, nothing is going to change, one way or the other.

P Dev Anand Pillai: It reminds everyone of the meteoric rise of a certain Anwar Ibrahim in Umno and thereafter his unceremonious sacking. Hopefully it doesn't happen to this young star.

Anonymous #70881335: Whoever becomes PM, he must always remember to be the PM of all Malaysians, regardless of race and religion. We want a workhorse, not a show horse. Is it too much too ask?

The Observer: Is this typical Umno? Bigger budget means power to spend on cronies and money politics and therefore means more power. What happened to “Berkhidmat untuk rakyat dan negara?” (Service to the people and nation).

Is the size of the budget more important than strength of character, competence and expertise as a gauge of importance to the nation? Can the government explain why the PM's Department needs to have the biggest budget?

You help me, I help you more: Should Khairy ever become PM, he will be the one who will bring all Malaysians of every race closer together again. Khairy has always been well-liked and praised for his anti-racist stand.

I for one will vote for BN should Khairy lead BN as I am supremely confident that he will bring back the majority of the non-Malays supporters i.e Chinese, Indians back into the BN fold and it will spell doom for Pakatan.

And with him in charge, I am sure that Malaysia will be a peaceful country again as racist bigots such as Ibrahim Ali, Zulkifli Noordin, Ridhuan Tee, Isma and other Muslim extremists will be dealt with severely.

Fernz: All this is wishful thinking and living on hope.

Mohican: Definitely Khairy will make a better PM than other rotten ones. He is smart, youthful, non-racist, the boy-next-door type - a poor little rich and nice boy but allegedly badly brought up.

If it happens, Khairy will accelerate Mahathir’s demise and Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Pak Lah) may write his epitaph.

Rayte: If Muhyiddin Yassin and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi take over the country, Malaysia will fall into chaos and become another ISIS country. I, for sure, will immediately leave this condemned country.

Mushiro: KJ does not shine as a youth and sports minister and is also not a great Umno Youth chief. But put in an environment of much-below-average Umno ministers, KJ seems to be slightly better. Whose fault is it when KJ's contemporaries include Mukhriz Mahathir? Are there any talents in Umno?

MingXiang: Khairy, this Kadir feller is doing you no favour. All the PM and DPM wannabes will have their krises drawn and ready to strike you from the back. The feller is also buddy-buddy with Mahathir and notice he does not mention a certain MB in the line up. The ex-PM is pushing Jibby off the perch so that the queue shortens.

Time is not on the old man's side and before he kicks the bucket, he would like to see his son become the DPM. Just watch your back, buddy, because you're the new kid on the block stirring the water muddy.

Leong U18: I am okay with Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein and Khairy. They are British educated and should be more liberal than those jaguh kampung.

Nicky: KJ talks sense, DPM material all right. Only thing is, he is in the wrong party, so he has to dance to the tune.

Golfer63: Among Umno politicians, Khairy is certainly among the best qualified to be PM. But he has to bide his time or he'll be cut down before he knows it.

Sodom me Sodom you: Well it's about time someone with a bit of brains took over, because the train's about to derail otherwise. Maybe KJ would push restart and declare a new and improved ‘Umno Terbaru’ or Umno 3.0 before the federal government is handed over to Pakatan Rakyat for the next 60 years?

Whatever it is, Malaysia cannot be governed along racial lines any more. Ooops, is that seditious? Am I next?
