On LGBT, breasts and moustache at Umno meet

The high-tension Umno AGM this week took a rowdy turn today when the topic of lesbians and transgenders replaced the usual hot button issues of sedition and Malay marginalisation.
Warning of the dangers facing the Muslim community if the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) agenda is allowed, Selangor delegate Ismail Kijo today gave vivid descriptions of same-sex couples.
Speaking during the Umno general assembly today, he told fellow delegates that the government must not give in to pressure from NGOs such as Comango to allow sexual equality.
Ismail resorted to descriptive images of same-sex relationships and how families would react to them.
“The mother wants to meet her future daughter-in-law, only to be shocked when she sees that her future daughter-in-law comes with a moustache bushier than Ibrahim Abu Shah’s!
“His wife (the son’s gay partner) is greater than him (the son),” Ismail said, drawing laughter from the delegates.
Ibrahim Abu Shah, the former vice chancellor of UiTM and an Umno member, sports a huge moustache.
Emphasising his point further, he gave an example of how the family would react to a lesbian couple when the “husband” has bigger “ nenen ’ (breasts) than the wife.
“This is why we do not want LGBT,” Ismail said, concluding his speech on how same-sex marriages would affect the ties between mother and child, and destroy the family institution and Malay and Muslim society.
Earlier, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said he would bring the issue concerning the Court of Appeal's ruling on cross-dressing by Muslim transgenders as a motion for debate at this general assembly.
Despite criticism that he was merely seeking publicity, Khairy said the assembly is a platform to discuss all issues , including the LGBT matter from the religious perspective.
