The Kelantan PAS government will hold a special state assembly sitting end of this year to speed up hudud implementation in the state.

This is in complete disregard for the strong opposition from its fellow Pakatan Rakyat parties PKR and DAP.

In a Whatsapp group handled by the PAS information bureau, it was stated that the special sitting will be held come December 29.

Among its agenda is to table an amendment on the Syariah Criminal Laws Act II 1993 (Amended 2014).

According to the same announcement, the Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob ( left ) said the sitting will enable a private bill to be brought to the coming session of Dewan Rakyat.

Present at the press conference were speaker of the state assembly Abdullah Yaakob and state exco member Abdul Fattah Mahmood.

Bernama had last month reported Kelantan Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah as saying that the Central Committee of the Technicalities on hudud will meet this month.

The meeting will be to summarise and suggest the implementation of hudud next year to the state government as well as the federal government.

He had said that this will be the third meeting which will also decide on the need to amend Act 355 which needs a private bill to bring it to the parliament.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom was also reported as saying that the federal government leaves it to Kelantan to table the private bill.

DAP, PAS's ally in Pakatan, in its annual party convention today, had rejected hudud fully.
