Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has denied embellishing evidence on the sodomy case involving Anwar Ibrahim, saying that he does not, as a senior lawyer, commit such errors.

The Sodomy II prosecutor insisted that the portion about the opposition leader "pinching" complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s nipples is mentioned in the Kuala Lumpur High Court judgment.

The government-appointed prosecutor was responding to a Malaysiakini report that Saiful did not mention this during his in-camera evidence, based on the court transcript obtained by the news portal.

"Because of your report, I will have to take you on. Your report is merapu (rubbish).

"This is the reason why I do not want to grant an interview with Malaysiakini . The thing is in the Kuala Lumpur High Court judgment. Have you read it?” he asked when met yesterday.

Malaysiakini 's checks on the High Court judgment ( see below ) by Justice Zabidin Mohd Diah showed that the judge had referred to the testimony of former Hospital Kuala Lumpur pathologist Dr Razuin Rahimi, where she testified Saiful had told her Anwar "fondled his breast".

Malaysiakini 's live report , dated March 9, 2011, of the case also showed Razuin stating, in English, that Anwar "fondled" Saiful's breast.

Similarly, a check with official court documents with Razuin's testimony also used the word "fondled". There was no reference to Anwar "pinching" Saiful's nipples.

Shafee had caused a furore when he revealed lewd details about the alleged "foreplay" between Anwar and Saiful during his first roadshow talk at Kelana Jaya on Feb 17.

Among others, he had said: " Anwar mencubit-cubit dia punya puting (Anwar pinched Saiful’s nipples)."

The lawyer, speculated to be gunning for the attorney-general’s post, is facing possible action by the Malaysian Bar over this.

This is after senior lawyer Tommy Thomas and a former Court of Appeal judge VC George filed a motion to cite Shafee for disciplinary action, which will be debated at the Bar Council’s annual meeting this Saturday.
