The government has injected another RM1 billion into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) but no public announcement was made on this, claimed several opposition lawmakers today.

PKR's Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli ( right ) said he has information that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak told Umno division chiefs that the government would inject at least RM900 million into 1MDB to help with its cash flow.

Najib is alleged to have announced this to the Umno division chiefs at a solidarity gathering held for him at Putra World Trade Centre on Sunday

DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua pointed to a report in today’s Singapore Business Times, which said the Malaysian government extended a nearly RM1 billion loan to 1MDB amid the controversies surrounding the fund.

Rafizi claimed that his source of information was an Umno division chief himself.

"The information from Najib's briefings to the Umno chiefs and the speculation that 1MDB might get a new injection of cash without being notified to the public needs urgent attention," he said.

Meanwhile, Pua extended an invitation to 1MDB president and executive director Arul Kanda and former CEO Shahrol Halmi to be panelists at a 1MDB forum.

Titled "1MDB: The Ultimate Low-Down", the forum which is organised by Pua and Rafizi would be held at the Crystal Crown Hotel in Petaling Jaya on March 15.

"They (Arul and Shahrol) can be assured that they will be given all the time necessary to respond to their critics," Pua said.

Arul Kanda previously said he would "engage" with Pua, a consistent critic of 1MDB.
