Applications by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor to strike out the appeal of a suit by the widow of P Balasubramaniam will be heard on April 24 .
 
The date was fixed when the matter came up for case management before the Court of Appeal today.

Americk Sidhu, the lawyer representing the widow, A Santamil Selvi ( left )‎, confirmed this with Malaysiakini .

The RM1.9 million suit was filed last year but it was struck out by the High Court in Kuala Lumpur late last year.

Justice Hasnah Mohamed Hashim ruled then that Santamil Selvi had no locus standi (legal standing) to file the suit, as she does not possess the documents of administration to manage the late private investigator's estate.

The late Balasubramaniam, a private investigator for Abdul Razak Baginda, had lived in exile for five years' in India following his statutory declaration (SD) that Najib knew the murdered Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Besides Najib and Rosmah, the others named in the suit by the late private invesitgator's wife are Najib's younger brothers, lawyer Johari Razak and architect Nazim Razak, as well as carpet dealer Deepak Jaikishian.

Also named in Santamil's suit are senior lawyer Cecil Abraham and his son Sunil, also a lawyer, commissioner of oaths Zainal Abidin Muhayat and another lawyer M Arulampalam, who was at the press conference when the Balasubramaniam made the second statutory declaration to withdraw his first.

Cecil himself is alleged to have drafted the second SD, for which he is a subject of an inquiry by the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board.

All of them have also filed separate applications to strike out the appeal.

Balasubramaniam was in exile with his family from July 2008 and they came back to Malaysia in 2013 after 53 months in India.

He died several months after returning back to Malaysia, from a heart attack.
