Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar will not be responding to Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali's question as to whether he is Umno's 'barua' (lackey).

But Khalid said he felt Azmin's remark during a ceramah in Kubang Hulu, Permatang Pauh on Sunday was "extreme".

Asked if he would be answering to Azmin's ( right ) query, Khalid replied 'No'.

"We have laws and my representatives have lodged police reports. Let the law takes it course,"  said Khalid at a press conference at the Seberang Perai Tengah police headquarters in Bandar Perda.

Asked if he felt sad over the PKR deputy president's comment, Khalid said: “You ask me how I feel but this is not the first time I have been mocked".

"But that query (by Azmin) was rather extreme," he added.

Asked if he were in Permatang Pauh to look for Azmin over his  remark, Khalid said there is no need to do so.

"I see him all the time. In fact I met him this morning in Selangor," Khalid added.

The IGP is in Permatang Pauh to meet his men as they monitor the last lap of the constituency's 12-day by-election campaign which officially ends tonight ahead of polling tomorrow.

Reports lodged

Khalid was responding to calls from those who wanted Azmin to apologise for calling the IGP “Umno's barua”.

Thus far, three reports have been lodged against the Gombak MP.

Gazetted Officers Branch of the Senior Police Officers Association chairperson Shah Gzali Khan Shahadad, said the remark had "hurt" the entire police force.

On Sunday, Azmin had expressed his anger over police detention of opposition leaders, activists and participants following the May 1 anti-Goods and Services Tax rally in Kuala Lumpur ( pix above ).

Azmin has since denied insulting Khalid or the police force, saying he had merely raised a question which he wanted the police chief to answer.
